Goa is not a suitable place for buying good quality contemporary Indian style furniture. Neither is the workmanship of high standard and neither are the prices competitive. Having said that it must also be said that antique Goan furniture from the Portuguese era is very much in demand overseas. The craftsmen who made that kind of high quality furniture are no longer found in Goa. There are a couple of places near Calangute selling designer furniture but it is very expensive.

There are some shops run by Kashmiris in Colva, that sell excellent woodcarved furniture. There on the main road to the beach, about 200 metres from the beach!
I bought a little table when I was there in 2003. I don't remember what I paid (I think less than $10 us)but it was a very ornately carved piece of work. I thinks the Kashmiris do excellent wood work!
They had all kinds of furniture, like tables and chairs. Dressers, etc.
Go check them out.
Nice stuff.

And Colva is only like 7 km. from Margao

You can definitely get good quality made by a local carpenter. The only problem might be the design, i don't know your taste. But if you want to have something traditional, I think pictures can help to explain what you want.

I need normal furniture to furnish a two bedroom apartment. I have no time for carpenters and supervision. I want to visit readymade furniture showrooms and pick off the shelf.
