From Madgaon to Arambol

Hi

we arrive in Madgaon on the 9th at 6.45 and are keen to make it to Arambol that evening. What is the best form of transport for getting there? How much will it cost and how long will it take? Also, any ideas on beach huts in the area?

We hope to travel down the West Coast to Kerala and have to be back in Mumbai for the 27th/28th so don't have a lot of time.

All recommendations welcome.

personally i would get a train to Pernem or Thivim station. I think Pernem is closer, and from memory is only a few hundred rupees. go to www.irctc.co.in and search for trains from MAO to PERN...

As for places to stay, its simply a matter of walking around and asking/looking at places. There's plenty to choose from (as long as its not xmas week), all depends on where you want to be... There are plenty of beach shack accomodation options around dreamcatcher.

btw beach huts are around 400-500 over xmas, cheaper before mid december but expect the rate to go up, even if you check in early.

A train to Tivvim will cost next to nothing - 30 rupees ?

Timings might be inconvenient. Otherwise bus to Panjim, bus to Mapusa, bus to Arambol - this could take 3 hours.

I assume you are arriving in Madgaon with train Nr 0103 (Mandovi exp) coming from Mumbai wich arrives at 18h45 in Madgaon.
This train also stops in Pernem at 17h04. Get off the train there and take a taxi to Arambol. No need to stay on the train all the way to Madgaon.
