I will arrive at the airport in Goa in the morning at 6:20 (domestic terminal) and there seems to be a train departing from Dabolim Railway Station at 7:39.

Is it possible to catch this train? If yes, how to get there? Can one walk there? Has anyone done this?

Walking should take about 30 minutes. Bus will charge you Rs.5 (always full). Taxi may charge Rs.100.
it's on the main road. opp Naval Depot.
When come out of the Airport, take the road to your right
btw, where you want to go to by the train?
Not all trains stop here. Mainly the local trains stops here.
This is the first station after Vasco da Gama, followed by Sankval, Cansaulim, Majorda (junction) where Konkan Railway also meets, then seraulim (halt) before arriving into Margao or Madgaon.

Thanx Joe for the quick answer.

I want to go to Margao. My main goal is to avoid the nearly 500 rupees a prepaid taxi would cost.

I know it's a local train I would take, so that's fine. But 30 min walking doesn't seem doable in my timeframe.

Would the bus that goes to the train station be the same that goes to Margao?

buses do not go upto the train station. As said, it will drop you on the main road near Naval Depot. From there you may have to walk about 3-5 minutes. Buses I talk about are mainly sort of mini buses, always full with standing pax. Not ideal for pax carring baggages.
If money is the main concern, one can go to Vasco da Gama (about 5-7kms). From them either take train to Margao (all trains leaving Vasco stop Margao with just two stops or none inbetween) or take shuttle bus to Margao about Rs.25-30. All seated and no standing Pax.
Take local bus transport to Vasco Rs.5-7. Most buses going via Dabolim going to Margao via Cansaulim, Majorda, Nuvem.

The bus will drop you with 100 metres of Dabolim train station, just cross the highway outside of the airport and get on a Bogmalo bus.It will only take a couple of minutes.
