For food see the India Mike link below:

Food Options in North Goa : Recommended by IMers

Restaurant "Plantain leaf" in Calangute gets mixed reviews from IM members, but I still like it for a South Indian Thali at a good price.

Weather in Goa for your visit (Jan 4-7) should be sunny and very pleasant (Hot, above 30 degrees between 11AM and 5PM and a bit cooler in the morning and after sunset).

If you like fishing or want to give it a go, head to south Anjuna. Theres a guy called Louis that runs fishing trips, and a pretty nice new boat There getting loads of big fish right now and they're really nice people. Id highly recomend a day out with them. Head to sun and sand restaurant, and you'll find them.

Enjoy

There is no shortage of Taxies in Goa resort areas and you should be able to get one near Sun Village.
