Dona Alcina Candolim

Does anyone know if this accomodation is any good... Dona Alcina Candolim?

Had difficulty getting a month stay flight and had to take the accomodation which wasn't much more expensive than what I was getting ripped off for the flight only.

Fifth time to Goa soon.

Yeah 3 stories high.

I never expect much with tour operator lo star ratings. I've booked a cheap deal to goa before and looked for alternatives after a week.

This hotel comprises of a few blocks 3 storeys high and it is mainly used by British package tour operators. The main plus point is the fact that it is on the main road. Keep in mind that this hotel is not very luxurious and it is fairly old as well. The mozzies are the main problem. Almost every one complains about this.

You mentioned that you have a time share at the Royal Goan Beach club, so why are you booking accommodation at another place?

The reason we are not using our timeshare is that in order to get a flight for one month to Goa we had to book a holiday. It was only £50 more for one months accomodation and more flexible flight times.

This leaves our 2 weeks timeshare quota untouched so we can bank it and use it next year.

Also if the Dona Alcina is too mos' infested and/or noisy we shall move on.

"It was only £50 more for one months accomodation"

I think you get what you pay for buddy. I was in the same predicament and flew over here on the 15th. I spent 3 nights in dona alcina then got so depressed that I moved out to Lui Beach resort (past kingfisher villa). If you can bear it and are on a budget ive been in much worse places. Its clean and everything worked fine. No problem with mozies.

Rgds,

Ren.

Ren,

Thanks for the info'. I've not got any great expectations and know what Goa can offer.

Guess I might get stressed out being amongst loads of package tourers, but then again I'll only be sleeping there.

What made you so depressed?

One month accom' a flight £625

Other options were around £575 no accom'

Bear in mind that I have to travel from Edinburgh to Gatwick. This time round I don't have to stay overnight at Gatwick so have saved money there. Had to book in October to get dates I needed.
