Diwali Advice!!!

Hi

My boyfriend and i are going to be in Goa over Diwali - can anyone suggest the best place to see celebrations and if you think we ought to book accommodtion? We arent booking anywhere to stay just see what tickles our fancy when we get there - but will book for Diwali if its busy? Cheers Chloe

I have mentioned this in other thread s well...Diwali is very personal festival, and you won't see much community celebrations. You can expect the markets and shops to be decorated, crowded, can year the fire crackers blow in the evening...if you want to actually see the celebrations you have to procure an invite to a Hindu household.

Secondly Diwali might not be big in Goa..especially in the tourist areas...

In Goa a lot of the children walk around with sweets that are like pop corn but much smaller . The only way you ever know Diwali is happening is that some of the shops have offers on,like buy a iron get a ironing board free.

How might it be in Mysore? I heard that there were some special celebrations there, but cannot find anything online about them.

It'll be our first night in India, so guess we'll sleep through all the noise everyone else complains about
