| Account Closed | Dentistry in GOA I bookmarked this site I came across a couple months ago and found it to be a good starting base for myself and what I should look for both on the web and in India when I get there. There are the golden rules for looking for a dentist and what I consider a fair price list I have never been to India and have nothing to do with this dentist. dentistingoa.com |

| hey ita me hi looking for a doctor is indeed a tough job. but remember that sometimes experience is not the only thing. depends on what kind of treatment you are going in for. for consultation u can choose a v busy and famous doctor or otherwise .But if treatment is intended there is no point in going to a person who is so busy that he/she cannot even take proper notice of your comfort,\. try someone who is a local and caters to comman man on regular basis. in goa there are doctors everywhere on the beaches . but that can be a gamble. so all the best. |

| The rates on the website mentioned are not very different from the usual rates across INDIA. Its just that dental rates in INDIA is cheaper compared to US OR Europe. I would suggest you to go to big famous hospital or a dentist, ( not all are busy ). And forget trying the smaller clinics, as such the rates do not vary much. lets say a tooth X- ray would vary from Rs 100 to Rs 150. Now, tell me does it really matter to you ? It is anyways 10 times cheaper than US. Its better to go to reliable dentist & stop worrying about money rather than saving saving couple of dollars & ending up with a horible doctor. think about it. I really doubt this GOA, dentist tourism thing, unless confirmed, by a reliable source. You shall definately find one in Kochi. Just ask for the top dentist in Kochi & you shall find one. |

| As far as I know Kochi has some top-notch hospitals and should have some good dentists too.... Same with most other reasonably big cities, i would say... |

| Ashis, JjInCt has never given the impression that Rs50 either way would affect his choice. He has said that he feels that Medical Tourism, as arranged by Agents who are now specialising in this field, is unlikely to be good value for money compared to finding a place himself, and that the big private hospitals are also likely to charge more based on their name and reputation. I agree with both, although I would not rule out the hospitals if I had a recommendation from someone I knew. I have to say that, having been to Apolo in Chennai for a couple of non-dental things left me with the impression that I probably could not aford a week in that place for something more serious... |

| hey its me again hi it is nice that you like my sincere advice. the thing is that you have to really keep your calm and visit dental sites . then probably you could write to few of them and through email probably you could judge. A couple of years back i had taken my aunt to this dentist in goa .she was somewhere in the interiors and although ay aunt was reluctant initially she did not have much of a choice as it was an emmergency. but believe she had the most comfortable dental experience ever. so stay calm and pm me if necessary |

| Lets dispel some of the myths about Goa indeed Indian medics. Dentists, surgeons, doctors opticians and the rest in the medical field, India produce some of the best in the world, yes there are charlatans as with any other country but, they don’t last long in a highly competitive market. If you go to see a dentist, at least in Goa the first consultation is free, that will give you an insight into the dentist, if his rooms are fitted out in a professional manner as one would expect a dentist surgery to be than, it is reasonable to except that s/he is a highly qualified and experienced dentist. As for medical fees, they are quite low compared with the west and very good value, always remembering that many give their services to the poor for free and I for one don’t mind paying a little extra, after all the medics have spent many years and a great deal of money to qualify in their field. On the beaches, you will encounter the earwax man, beggars, acrobats, fruit sellers, tat sellers and masseurs, if you see a medic on the beach s/he will be enjoying a day out with his/her family, just like you. |

| All the dentists I've seen in Goa who offer a free first consultation have gone on to try and persuade me to have a major mouth job done. We use Dr Franco in Mapusa, and he charges Rs400 for a complete clean, and not much more per filling. He can do crowns, but refers you to one of his colleagues for anything more comlicated, like implants. The best implant jobs are done in Mumbai. We've been very happy with his service, he is very popular with locals, and he doesn't try to sell you more than you want. AnnieG
