hi everyone!
my girlfriend and i are heading to goa on the 16th of december till the 28th and we will be at palolem beach on the 17th for two or three days....... i have seen a lot of threads on palolem...i would like to make one comprehensive thread about the place..... a few of the questions i would like to start with: 1. which are the good places to stay at there - be it beach huts or coco huts? 2. is it ok to go on the weekend? i have heard that a lot of picnickers come there over the weekend...is this really a problem..? 3. what are the best ways to get there? by bus?......renting a scooter in north goa and then traveling there? 4. which are the good pubs/bars there and what is the nightlife there like? anyhelp would be appreciated....thanks in advance!!!! CHEERS! ![]() |

hi
1. what's the difference ?? 2. weekend, weekday, all the same, but december lot of places are full. there is limited capacity on the beach. (everything is concentrated on the beach). other options, like big $ hotels available nearby though. 3. from pune, i'd go by nightbus to madgaon or mapusa, then step on the train or something.. i hate the gov. bus... takes loooong. by motor is far out best. great road along the beach. 4. it's a failry quiet place at night, don't expect goa parties, just faggy mellow house music one's a week. just 1 "night" bar. for the rest.. be creative, but don't fall asleep on the beach, they'll wake you up middle of the night ![]() your welcome. kokopelli |

hi thanks kokopelli...
ok what i meant to say was that i've heard and read that you get tree huts as well as huts on the beach.....any idea how much these would cost to rent at that time of the year.. is it ok to just land up there and check the place out or must one book in advance...... one more thing.....suppose i come by bus to mapusa...and i take the train to south goa...where would i be able to find the train timetable and where must i get down if i need to get to palolem..(in case i cant get this information from the net)... many thanks! |

hi,,
well most of the (seasonal) huts are built on bamboo, so they are all in the air, probably cost around 100-400 a night or something, depends where on the beach offcourse.. i don't think any would take bookings in advance.. it's all very low profile.. i think i made a mistake,, mapusa has no train station, you have to get out of the bus sooner then mapusa.. or take a bus from mapusa to panjim. i don't have a trainmap or schedule near me, have a search on the forum, you'll find everything you need. also, i'm sure some people have pictures of palolem in their photo gallery.. good luck, kokopelli |

Hi Dawneclipse,
I'll be in Palolem from 8th to 12th Dec. staying in Oceanic Hotel. Some of the places are fully booked for December until 10th January. Even plaes like Bhakti Kutir are since amonth fully booked. I'm sure you will find seafacing huts, but probably is not easy to give any address. As I'll stay there, if interested I can send you a message via email or indiamike private messages with the information once in the spot. Bridge & Tunnel is probably the coolest place in the beach for a drink and even they have some huts. Another places for huts are: Ciaren's Camp, Prittan Cottage, Blue Welkin... To have a nice fish dinner or lunch in front of the sea, Ma Rita is a good place. Jorge |

I just read your message and I would like to head to Palolem from Mumbai on 23rd of Dec. I tried to get something by email/phone with no results. If it's not too much trouble, couuld you drop me a line when you're there about the situation. We're 2 adults and 1 child and either a cheapish room or a hut will do. If I know there is no chance to get anything I'll have to go somewhere else. Thank you |

But we had the sweet guard (Brin) from Cressida watching over us!I got the impression that all the huts are pretty much the same - we payed 250rp per night per hut.
