Cool chennai-goa trip itenary help

Hi guys,

i like to know wheather this is workable and your valuable suggestions on what i can squeez in...

7th - leave chennai on 7311 - MAS VASCO Express (avb. only on friday)
8th - reach madgoan/goa afternoon - checkin and local sightseeing.
9th - Sightseeing/shopping and beach in evening...
10 - Don't know what to do, more sightseeing perhaps
11th- morning leave from madgaon to manglore and catch the chennai bound west coat express at 21.45, since we don't know any trains from madgoan station to chennai

guys can anyone tell me if this ok or too much running around, my wife is on her 4 month(preg) and i don't want to make it too fatigued for her.

We will be staying in Phoenix Park Inn at Candolim.

Can anyone suggest nearby good beachs and maybe some partys where we can drop in the night , general taxi fares and bus fare from madgaon to manglore, also is the roads good or too shaky, heard the sightseeing is good though

regards

Rhytha

You need to make a little bit more time to travel around Goa especially taking into consideration the physical condition of your wife.

The taxi fare from Madgaon to Candolim is around Rs 700. From Panjim to Candolim is about Rs 300. Candolim is in North Goa and you can take a taxi and check out Asvem, Arambol, Morjim and other beaches which are further north. To check out South Goa you would need at least 2 days due to the distance from Candolim. Most of the good beaches in South Goa are about 75 km from Candolim. The road from Madgaon to Mangalore was in fairly good condition earlier this year although after the monsoon it may or may not be so.

There are plenty of good restaurants in Calangute and Baga which are next door to Candolim

I assume you mean the 7th October.....

The 11th is a tuesday.

Train 6337 departs Madgaon (Tuesdays) at 09:00, then Karwar (closer to south Goa) at 10:22, and gets to Kankanadi at 15:20 and Kasaragod at 16:13. (2A, 3A, SL)

This is a special monsoon timetable and has plenty of time built into the timetable for delays.

GoanCanuck, thanks for your reply.

Are there many buses plying from candolim/panaji to manglore, can you tell me the duration of the journey, i need to catch the 21.45 West coast at manglore, so when should i start from candolim/panaji prefreably...

i will get down at VAS now, but hotel guys are saying that its shorter if I get down at tivim, don't know if the train will stop there though. Can any one tell me which is shorter to Phoneix park inn at candolim, VAS or tivim and will the train stop there ??

The Chennai-Vasco train does not pass through Tivim because this route is not part of the Konkan railway. Vasco and Madgaon are both located at approximately the same distance from Candolim and as a result it makes no difference whether you get down at Vasco or Madgaon. Getting down at Madgaon would be the better option.

Use lonely planet to chart out what you would want to see and what you wouldn't. I know people on the forum would know enough to help but I would suggest not to miss out reading lonely planet once. If you don't have a copy, PM me.
