Cavalossim
Because there are some nice places to eat and, of course, that boat trip from Betty's bar, I was thinking of staying overnight in Cavalossim. We are staying in Colva. if we feel relaxed after the 'cruise' we may like to just chill out without going back to Colva.
I only seem to find Hotels used by tour companies which, when booked for an individual night, can be comparatively expensive. Basically, what I am looking for is a reasonable sort of place preferably near to betty's bar/Fisherman's wharf. Any ideas? Possible web sites etc. Cheers, Pete |

Hi Pete
Holiday Inn is very pleasant and although it can be booked through tour operators you can still book it direct as we did last Christmas! Its also just a 5 minute walk to Fishermans Wharf from there and the rather impressive leela hotel next door which is mega bucks to stay but perhaps worth going for a meal. Here's the link http://www.holidayinngoa.com/ or Leela http://www.theleela.com/goa/goa_home.htm Cheers Malc |

What's the name of the little hotel...........down the road to the dead end past the Leela, then over the river on a boat? It has a restaurant/patio and pool on the waterfront. Anyone help? TIA.

No, I've looked that up. This place is very simple, just one box building right on the riverside with a wall and steps up to the patio, just before the river bends round into the sea. Fabulous crab if you rang up early and ordered before the boats got back.
It might have been bulldozed i suppose, this was a few years ago. |

Is it the Goan Village Restaurant you mean? You can also stay at this place.

No, it's down the hill from there, past Mobor beach entrance, Holiday Inn, Leela until you get to the end of the road by the river. Then it's on the far bank of the river directly across from there. I only went over on the boat so i never saw the front of the place.
I might stay at Sao Domingo's so i'll go and take a photo of it ! Thanks. |

It's actually called the Hotel River Sal and used to be very popular as a restaurant about 10 years ago, although I can't comment any further as we haven't used it.
We stay at Sao Domingos, lovely place and lovely restaurant. Returned last Friday after one month's stay and we are returning on March 31 for a further two weeks. Just can't live with these Goa withdrawal symptoms !!! |

OK, I didn't think they were on sale yet. We're keeping our ears open.....don't want to miss it.
