Question Car Hire In Goa.

Yes you may think we're mad for asking this as taxis are so accessible and can be quite reasonable if you bargain hard enough .Its just my husband and I got a bit fed up up with getting ripped off by taxi drivers. We have been to goa twice and still manage to get ripped off somehow. Had a bad experience the first time we went when we decided to go to Vagator one day. When we got there we had to virtually abseil down the side of a mountain to get to the beach. When we finally got to the beach, there were no sunbeds available and we were suddenly surrounded by no less than nine female beach sellers who would not leave us alone, not good when you're not used to it and I was feeling very ill that day (I ended up in Vrundavan Hospital a few days after, but thats another tale!) When we eventually climbed back up with the intention of asking our taxi driver to take us somewhere else on the off chance he might still be there, but he was gone, so we were stranded there until he came back and a valuable day of our holiday was wasted.

That why we want to hire a car a few times while we're there, so that when we go somewhere different, if we don't like it we can move on somewhere else.

Not an answer to your question, but a solution to your problem if you have a mobile phone with you... Always take the driver's mobile number.

You can get one for about 400 per day.

Post Need info on car hire in Goa

I agree that depending on taxi's still can be a pain. I am going to Goa on 3rd Aug Friday and will be there until 7th Monday to attend one of my friend's wedding

I believe it would be raining cats and dogs out there (hopefully keeping the Goa Municipality busy :-P) and definitely wouldn't want to get stranded on the road / beach (if I get to make it) waiting for taxi.

So if someone has any information to share on this... about the power-drive AC Santro for hire and considering the off-season, what would be the competitvely reasonable rates, it would be nice... tel. nos. would be great

If you ask at your hotel or guest house, they should be able to arrange a car for you. When I hired a self drive Wagon R in Goa this Jan, it cost me Rs.1000/- per day plus fuel. The manager of my guest house arranged it for me. You could also try:

Can highly recommend the services of Seby (mobile: 9823755427) and Bonny (mobile: +9326111403), travelservices@rediffmail.com. They run a small car rental service%

Good driver in Goa,

I had one driver Mr. Sagar in Goa for many days in last December. He is living in Calangute. I found him very friendly and sincere. He speaks excellent English. He can assist in many difficult situations. And his charges are very reasonable. He is the most efficient driver, I ever had. He drives a Maruthi Omni car. His mobile: +91 9890 220263.

In the above picture, he is acting as guide in a travel show.
