Candolim Monsoon 2011

Hi,

I just arrived in Santana Beach Resort. So happy with this choice, it's definitely amazing value!

Unfortunately I've noticed that a lot of restaurants/bars here and in Baga are closed (e.g. Britto's). I've tried searching for a list of good spots that are still open but didn't find it.

Any advice for good spots that are still open near Candolim/Calangute/Baga? Thanks!

From what I have heard, Cavala in Baga is open throughout. Fridays are fun nights with professional music bands etc. Also, try Bob's Inn at Candolim, many a foreigner and local there - always a story going around. A legendary place too since some Lord Lucan who was missing in UK and was wanted for some murders there, was supposedly frequenting Bob's Inn before he died!!

jeanie, unfortunately I won't be able to meet up with you as I'm leaving to Mumbai the 22nd

Just to share some things I've experienced/learned:
-Renting a motor scooter for rs 250 per day has to be the best thing I've done since I'm here! After you get used to the crazy traffic, you'll enjoy soo much freedom!
-People in Goa are super friendly, they will help you with anything
-Monsoon rains are totally unpredictable, it could be raining all day or no rain at all.
-Venite in Panji has been the best food experience so far (5/5)
-Cavalla is good food (4/5) and has a nice atmosphere
-Bob's Inn has great atmosphere, but only decent food (3.5/5)
-Britto's will be closed until the first week of August
-Bars/clubs seem to be deserted execpt on fri and sat
-I've been to so many other places whose names I don't remember, but everywhere I've been the food was very good and I'm not someone who likes everything!

Hi, does anyone have a direct contact number/email of All Season Hotel in Candolim. I don't want to book through agents.

If its the same All Seasons that comes up in all the searches, its nowhere near Candolim and is in fact smack in the middle of Calangute/Baga.
Strange they don't have their own web prescence though?

I've given up on this one ggg, compared with what some Indian tourists allow themselves to be charged, it almost seems reasonable?

I think we also have to remember, a lot of these guys only rent for a couple of days and are unlikely to get the rates we do when renting for month(s).
