Calling Goan Expats!

Hi guys....

Would like to hear from expats or long termers in Goa regarding monthly expenditure!

I will be out there for 6 months. Total monthly costs. However, I have though about 20k a month which I have been told by a few will be ok....Just want better info on apartments and travel to places such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi etc.

I will be busy through the week on the charity so will have to take time out. I am looking to see what would be the best mode of transport to such places...coach, train or plane? Rough costs of such activities too?

However, I am mainly looking for monthly bills on groceries, utilities and renting in Goa. I saw one 2 bed apartment in Goa for 7k (Rupees) a month with balcony to one bedroom and the lounge...furnished too! A 5 year old building.

Please please tell me if you wouldn't mind...anyone who lives in Goa or spends time in Goa!

Cheers

How much per month??? 20k...you can't be serious?!
I spent about 300 pounds a month in Goa and whilst I was not extravagant I was certainly not frugal. This was in 2003-2004.

20k is plenty. We get students from abroad who live here for six months for about 10-15 including housing (half decent studio, one bed-appartment is about 6-8 although depends a bit whether your six months cover the high season or not), going out, having the occasional expensive dinner and buying odd bits.

But it depends on your attitude as well, some use skype to phone, others use mobiles, some go out three times a week, some once a week, some always eat (expensivish) western food, other enjoy much cheaper Indian food, etc.

Enjoy!

I want to enjoy a more Indian way of life to add to my experience. I will be out there from November time...I will use my UK phone but get an Indian sim as I have been advised!
