Hi..
I will be riding to Goa from Calicut/Kozhikode(Kerala) and will be in Goa for a week.. December 4-11. Now what all do I do during the week in Goa? I am visiting Goa for the first time and would like to explore places other than the beaches too! I will be riding on my motorbike so no issues of mobility. Accomodation : I am looking at something.. b/w 200-400 per day. Itinerary suggestions are welcome.. any info is welcome... ![]()

Hi crimson, I'll send you a PM with some ideas after I get to Goa next week; I'll be in north Goa early December and will have wheels, so perhaps we can meet up for a ride, or whatever.

Taking a detour through the ghats on the way to Goa would offer some nice driving (and a break from NH17!) -- I don't have my maps and stuff with me now, but the road up to Jog Falls from Honekar is really nice and you can take another route down. Golkarn is also on the way, but although people still rave about Ohm beach, after taking a rough dirt track to get to it, I found that it was all fenced off for a big tourist development. Perhaps someone who knows the area better can give you some ideas of where to look for current nice spots there and how you can get there on a bike.
I was hoping someone would jump in with some suggestions for south Goa -- probably a good idea to stay a few nights in the south and use as a base for checking out the parks and local attractions. I think Cyberhippie is your man for information on Palolem and surroundings. Lots of good places to stay in the area depending upon how quiet or how much nightlife you're interested in. The ride up the coast is nice -- try to stay off NH17 and keeping as close as you can to the water via small (and unsignposted ) roads is the trick -- easy to get to Cabo de Rama via Algonda this way, but I got a bit lost myself trying it and wound up in Margao thereby missing quite a bit. Others tell me it is possible though and would surely provide a good workout for your camera as the views along the south coast are great.I'll get back to you next week, but does anyone else have some suggestions on Goa's hidden gems? |
