Calangute Beach at it's worst
Here are the pictures of Calangute Beach (Goa's most popular Beach - May be Goa's most ugly also) captured during my business visit. Locals said all this was dumped by waves from the sea. This pictures were clicked on 7 th August 2006.
Click on the attached thumbnails to get better view of Goa's best (worst) beach.

naaaaasteeeeeee
So where is the garbage coming from? Is somebody dumping it at sea? Many coastal areas in the US used to have the same problem before they realised garbage can float. People finally decided it might not be a good idea dumping garbage in the ocean when medical waste started washing up (blood bags, syringes, etc.)

Someone is dumping waste in the sea, which should be stopped.
But then waht is the alternative, recyling ? I hope by now the authorities would have cleared the same as the season in Goa is about to start after the rains. Ronak. |

Awful stuff. I think the rubbish has come from up north or something. India should start putting alot more rubbish bins in the streets.

Yes the rubbish might have come from bordering states Maharashtra & Karnataka.
I sincerely hope the rubbish is cleaned up by now. Any one in Goa update on the current situation. Ronak. |

Yes it has to be the shack owners responsibility to clean up the area surrounding them. It is also beneficial for them as no customer would like sit in a shack which is not clean. Ronak. |

When I was there in June I watched the net fishermen dumping the trash that they had dragged from the water on the beach.
