Buying a Radio

I'm thinking of getting a battery/DC world band radio (with SW).
Sony or Roberts are about £30 here. Can I buy this in Goa?

I'm sure you can ! Even Philips world band radio is available in India, if I'm not mistaken.

I dont know what band it is. In front of bangalore railwaystation they sell cheap radios for rs20, that is battery and ear phone included!! I dont know howmany days it work. It's small as a spectacle box.

I think for something like 500rs you can get a decent radio here. What is world band?

Buying a radio

You can get a whole lot of grey market (including digital) radios in the VT-Fort area of Mumbai. Goa isn't a great place for radios. You can pick up a Chinese Kchibo radio from some radio shop in Panjim. These are quite easily available. The Kchibos cost Rs 150 to 250 (depending how much you bargain) and are 10-14 band. Pretty fair sensitivity to tune in to foreign stations, but this has to be seen in the context of the price you're paying. Of course, these are *not* digital radios. I picked up a Sony ICF from the Mumbai grey market some years back. It then cost me around Rs 4000 if I recall right... don't remember the model name.
