Busy Busy Busy!

Can't believe Goa is so busy. I knew it was going to be hectic as it's peak season but it's been a real effort to get accommodation sorted out for my trip Dec 30th - Jan 14th. I don’t know how many hours I have spent on different websites trying to find availability (feel like a Goan travel agent). I have now come to the conclusion that most of the hotels and guesthouses block out availability during the Christmas/New Year period as they get enough guaranteed walk-in business.

I managed to get every night sorted apart from the 30th which unless I can find somewhere upon arrival (I hear there are loads of accommodation hawkers at the airport) will either be spent at a late night bar in Anjuna , or on the beach. (Little does my girlfriend know!!! )

I know there are loads of different threads giving advice on driving in Goa or should I say, discouraging people. I have driven in Thailand and in Central America and although it was tough, it was also good to have the independence. As a first timer to Goa I was wondering if the roads and more importantly drivers are worse than the two regions aforementioned. People are prepared to ride motorbikes, but not drive? Surely motorbikes are far more dangerous.

Anyway, can’t wait to go. God knows I need it. I was planning on a quiet, relaxing “beach” holiday. But, after reading many many interesting posts on IM about the Goan nightlife, and the distinct lack of seasonal festivities in my office on the run up to Christmas – I intend to spend more time in Anjuna/Vagator than previously planned – partying!!!

I need sunshine! (and a fish curry with a chilled bottle of Kingfisher)
