Budweiser quickly grabs market share in Goa
Since the launch of Budweiser in August 2007 by Anheuser-Busch (Anheuser-Busch now acquired by Belgian-Brazilian brewer InBev for USD 52 billion on July 14, 2008) through its joint venture with Crown Beers, there has been a major shake-up. Budweiser has taken off in style capturing a 10 per cent share within a year and is still on a growth path with Q1 2008-09 figures showing a 16 per cent market share.

Blech! Bud is one of the worst American exports; simply put, it's redneck beer (and yes, rednecks do drink a lot of beer). I hate having the world think that Bud is the best the U.S. can offer. We've hundreds of great little microbreweries, few of which have the capacity to export. Please, people, don't be thinking Bud is what American beer is about; many of us have much better taste than that.

Heheh. Next question: How come Heineken has anything of a reputation?

yeah, what Bruce said - He can tout his own town and state - for myself - in Boulder we have the Avery, Boulder, Twisted Pine, Mountain Sun, Southern Sun, Walnut, Left Hand, C.B. And Potts micro-breweries; that's just 1 town in this state. Quite honestly, the US micro brewing industry is really world class quality - easily as good or even better than England.
I'm exploring the idea currently of some marketing of this stuff, particularly the various IPAs (India Pale Ales) - its got a "coals to Newcastle" wackiness to it. Sorry for the plug for my town, mods, and delete if necessary. -K |

Hm yes. A guy I know runs a good (if not to say excellent) beer shop here (in NL).
There are all kinds of restrictions on international exports of it, he gets asked all the time but just can't comply to many places. Even just a simple gift package is difficult to some destinations I believe, it's a known problem from Belgium too. You'll be able to stock up there to your heart's content, but in many cases not allowed to take it out. I think to US is particularly difficult for instance, no idea what it's like from there. He does manage to import from practically all over the world though, no idea how that works precisely. Should ask him a next time. Last edited by machadinha : Jul 18th, 2008 at 13:42. |

A pint of Heineken in some English Clubs in Calcutta cost me about Rs140/- so how much would Budweiser cost?
I found Cobra Beer to be good! |

Out of all the great, tasty beers in the world to choose from they choose Bud to make in India.
Something stinks, and it's not just the Bud. Give me a Haywards5000 anyday! |

Bud is beating out Guiness in Ireland also. Can't quite go there but Bud Lite is my spouse's favorite for a sip. I suppose its a matter of opinion that makes for horse races but pass me a Hefe..

Kings is virtually becoming extinct in North Goa. Very few restaurants are carrying it any more. In South Goa it is more readily available. Personally speaking I do not like this beer. I get a very soapy taste every time I drink it. Used to like Arlem but this beer again has become extinct.
