Budget House or Guest House for Christmas and New Year.

Hello there!

My friends and I are going to Goa for Christmas and New Year. We would ideally like to rent a house as there are 6 of us but are also considering Guest Houses.

We would like to stay in or close to Vagator and Anjuna.

I have been looking at places online but everywhere seems to be booked up already!

So please does any one have any contact details or can recommend anywhere?

We will be there for 2 weeks in total. And the cheaper the better!

Thank you x x

Hello there! Thanks for your response! Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you sooner! I have found a place called Sunshine Guest House on Anjuna beach for the Christmas and New Year period but it is pretty pricey at £20 a night. Is this standard for the Christmas and New Year period? I am still trying to find us accommodation for the time before and after Christmas so any recommendations would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks again x

"but it is pretty pricey at £20 a night. Is this standard for the Christmas and New Year period? "

Yes, the period between about Dec. 20 to about Jan. 5 is absolutely crazy in Goa for accomodation rates specially near the popular beach areas like Anjuna and Vagator and your reservation for £20 a night (1,700 rupees) for that period is a good deal.

January after the New year period is still a busy tourism time in Goa but the hiked up X-mas/New-Year accomodation rates quickly come down to the more normal rates and usually plenty of accomodation becomes free after Jan. 5 and to get the best room rates it will be better to book your post New Year accomodation when you are in Goa.

Prices certainly rise at peak period, but with a bit of research, you might find a better deal than Rs1700/night (although loads of places get booked up quite early in the year).
I've got a guest house in Benaulim (okay, rates cheaper in the south), over Xmas, for Rs500/night, at a place with very good user reviews.
Also got another in Gokarna for Rs600/night. This one has excellent user reviews.

You might have a slim chance. Good luck!

Hi Indianmap
I'm staying at Oshin's Guesthouse in Benaulim.
Charging me Rs500/night over the Christmas period. (The price list on the website is out of date.)

Hi, have you had any luck finding a place?

I'm also looking for myself and my boyfriend between 29 Dec- 4th Jan. We have a budget of £15 each per night and are looking to stay in either Anjuna/Palolem/Agonda? Struggling to find anywhere at the moment unsurprisingly given it's so late in the year... Found a hotel in Margoa which isn't ideal as it looks a car ride from the beach, should we go for it as it's £11 each a night and rely on transport to get around to the fun areas for NYE and the beach? Or should we wait till we get there and see what happens? Or would the price be extortionate on the day? Has anyone found any cheap places that have still got availibilities at all?! Sorry to hijack the thread a bit!

Thank you!!

Are you serious?

Do you know what a villa rental costs? You typically have to pay 10,000+ per day for a villa and around Christmas time it is usually much more.

for those looking for accomodation over the xmas period you will probably have more joy in the south. try oshins or rosarios, benaulim. benaulim is a nice beach area not far from margao. As has been said 20 gb pounds in the north over xmas isn,t a bad price. you should find cheaper in the south.
