Sadly, there is plenty of it Glasgow, it tends to be in a lot of outlying areas, not city centre - too heavily policed and lots of CCTV.

Why taxis? Wouldn't it be cheaper for the dealers to just buy cars or scooters or something? Maybe they could take the bus...

The 'delivery service' is pretty typical in the USA. Even out in rural areas. In the town where I grew up, it was easier to get weed delivered than a pizza. Though I realize by 'hard drugs' you probably weren't talking about that.

Buying a car and driving would mean staying straight. A taxi means someone else is driving and the dealers can indulge...
weed is old hat here now opoponax.

Wow, that's so sensible and European of you guys.

I'm pretty sure that most American drug-deliverers just drive wasted out of their minds. I mean, you're already a drug dealer. You don't exactly care if you get pulled over for speeding...

That's how most Dealers get caught in my neck of the woods. Bamboozle everybody with their stealth drug-dealings/pushing skills and then get pulled over on a minor traffic violation or misdemeanour with a not-so-well-hidden stash in their glove compartment.

So true. I read that kind of stuff all the time in the paper. I mean how stupid can you be. If your transporting pounds of drugs, I would be a little conservative in my driving.

To further bug Nick, a dealer once told me it was only the stupidist person (dealer) in the world that would consume their own **** (merchandise)..

Media and Goa

I am one of those with tragic memories from Goa . I have many goan friends , some have moved out themselves . the 'fuss' is the first opportunity the media have had to witness first hand the corruption and lies . usually the victims family is in another country , police often cremate bodies (whatever the instruction).
Most of the stories are coming from the Indian media .....nobody in India trusts the police , most don't report crime .
Since the late 90's a huge influx of Russian money has poured into the drug & flesh trades ...you must have seen the boys along the beach ? huts you can rent by the hour ?
lucrative drug trade fuelled by us ,how could you miss it ?
Stations like NDTV, CNN the Hindustan Times all reporting on this case, don't forget that 14 other deaths like this since January .
Check out Atala on Youtube , the man who filmed it was threatened by the police and left Goa. His account was taken down by the police , I apprecaite that you stayed safe but when it happens to somebody you know you will undestand just how poisoness goa has become , ask Adrain Duggan .
Sunshine is very deceptive ...imagine if the beach girls were white ...it would not be cute and ethnic then ! Somehow we fall under a spell .

Sorry mate to read your problems. I fully agree with all you say, Most of the other deaths have been drug related. This must be stopped, but until you go right to the top nothing will be done. If Goa thinks it has bad publicity now wait until the UK daily papers and TV programmes get wind of what is written in the Indian Tribune today.

GOA TWO TAKE PROPERTIES FROM FOREIGNERS. Where will it all end.

For those who are saying Goa is being unfairly targeted, an Indian newspaper, albeit a non-mainstream one.

Another Day In Paradise

Quote:
As many as 22 foreign tourists have died in Goa since the beginning of this year; Scarlett was one of the 11 Britons who died. For the last two years, British nationals have topped the death lists. Foreigners routinely troop into the St. Joseph’s Hospital at Anjuna for treatment for drug overdose and counselling. “Seven times this tourist season [since October], I have been called to treat a tourist with an overdose, only to pronounce the man already dead,” said Dr Jawaharlal Henriques, the hospital’s owner-director.

-----

We live far away, secure in our parallel, middle-class Goa and pretend that the dirty drug business doesn’t exist,” says paediatrician Nandita DeSouza, a Goa native who runs an NGO for child and family guidance. “The allnight alcohol and drug culture is now Goa’s biggest problem.
