Is this a pleasant, quiet, unspoilt beach? Any interesting accomodation there?

Hi Bogmalo beach is really nice with plenty of appartments to chose from and also a large hotel Its only 10mins away from the airport The sea has a very strong under current so you need to be carefull when swimming well worth a couple of days stay but i wouldnt stay longer f
For the best beaches you have to go to morgim or ashvem which is north or go south where theres Palolem which in my veiw is the best or if you need a little more peacefull you could try polem But you are now spoiled for choice Just get an apartment in somewhere like calungute then travel around by bus train and taxi youll find what your looking for im sure of that

This is a small beach and it is pleasant, quiet and unspoilt but there is no nightlife as such anywhere nearby and neither are there any shops and malls where you can spend time window shopping.

The sea can be treacherous but if you are a fairly decent swimmer and you do not go too deep you should be alright. Water sports are available on the beach and there are some very good shacks where you can get tandoori, continental, chinese and other types to choose from.

As awlays it depends on your budget. The accomodation goes from a large 4 star hotel to a few small b&b 's.The area is very quiet but if you are looking just to relax without any hassle it is ideal. We have been here for over 6 months now and that's how we like it.

Oh dear...I am so unsure. It is a very special holiday I am secretly planning as a surprise for 5 of my family for 3 weeks over the christmas period. We will have done the overland travelling part for a month so now we will want to relax.I want the best location in Goa...a lovely peaceful beach, with alternative interesting upmarket bohemian accomodation also on the beach....NOT a standard package deal hotel.. Also within bus or taxi distance to Anjuna etc. for the market. I know there must be somewhere.

Try Olive Ridley accomodation in the North- don't know if they have web site but remember seeing in Alistair Sawdays special places to stay in India. Also in the North is a place called Elsewhere which is on web site. Depends what your budget is though as I think these are dearer than package hotels and you would need to sort own flight as well. Both of these are near beach.

The Villa Rivercat might be closer to what you are looking for. Nice quiet location between a picturesque river and a quiet stretch of Mandrem beach. Not sure if they have their own website, but the Villa is well described on this booking site:

Ashvem beach in the north and its not too far from Anjuna.
As well as Anjuna market try Ingos Saturday Night Bazzar which is far better than Anjuna. It has a wonderful atmosphere, great food and good live music and entertainment along with loads of stalls.

The Christmas period in Goa is hectic and everywhere in Goa is at its busiest so its not going to be that quiet wherever you go.
But its also a fabulous time to go to Goa as everywhere is really buzzing (if thats what you like). Also accomodation goes very quickly at this time and Goa hotels and guest houses are usually filled to capacity well in advance so be prepared!!!

Regards,
Remy
