Baga or Benaulim at Christmas

I am undecided on where to stay when I get to Goa. I have two places I like, Alidia Beach Cottages in Baga, and Palm Grove Cottages in Benaulim. The question is, I have heard that India roads are dangerous, I would like to rent a moped and explore the coastal area. I am thinking that it will be much safer in the less crowded Benaulim. Any feedback?

I would choose Benaulim. Baga is overcrowded during Christmas.

I'd go Baga. I love being around people and atmosphere.

Benaulim is very quiet at Christmas, not much going on, much more to do in North Goa.
Benaulim fills up with domestic tourists at Christmas, not much fun.
Stay in Baga, then come down to South Goa for a couple of days.

South Goa is better for a beginner on a moped. Very crowded up north. Around Agonda is ideal conditions for biking on the back roads if your a little paranoid about it. The ride from Palolem up to Betul, passing Agonda and Cabo de Rama is an awesome ride. Also the ride south all the way to the border of Karnataka is really nice also.
