There's a ATM in Chaudi (4 KMs) which accepts Cirrus enabled cards, probably a credit card too bit I'm not sure which one.
Other than that Goa has enough ATMs dotted around, so as to make travel with a card only easy enough

There is another one at Fatorda and several in Margao

There are not very many ATMs in Palolem although there are tons of them in the Candolim-Calangute area. Of course Margao and Panjim have dozens of ATMs.

I was just in Palolem last week. Cyberhippie is right, you have to go to Chaudi to use an ATM, which is at the state bank. It's a LONG hot walk from Palolem Beach or by rickshaw it should cost around 70 rupees or so, there and back.

Has anyone wondered why we say "ATM machines" and not "AT machines"?

No one who says "ATM machine" ever stops to ponder that they're really saying "Automatic Teller Machine Machine." It's as big a quandary as whether a tomato is a fruit or vegetable.
