Arriving in Dabolim airport late

Hello
So I'm flying from Udaipur to Goa on 14th July. My flight gets into Dabolim airport at 9.20pm, will I be able to find somewhere cheap and nearby to stay at this time? I want to go to Panaji but is it too late at night to do that?
Help please, am travelling alone and don't really want to be stuck!

No, 9:20PM is not too late.
Goa is a busy and safe place and there are plenty of taxis waiting at the airport at all times for tourist business and there is no need for you to stay the night near the airport if you have already arranged an accomodation in Panjim.

But if you have no accomodation arranged in Panjim then around 10:30PM when you will likely arrive in Panjim is not the best time to be looking for accomodation.

To offer this advice to a 21 year old European female, in view of the attacks on women in recent years, is in my opinion irresponsible.

Your description of Goa being busy and safe? Dabolim is an isolated and desolate place, and at that time of night quite quiet.........very few flights.

Not confident that someone arriving at 9.20 would be safely at their their hotel by 10.30 either.

Sorry, I did not check the profile and was not aware the OP is a 21 year old female. While an arranged pickup from the hotel would be considered safe in general, it would be best for a young female not to take any chances and should avoid travelling alone in a taxi late at night.

Why don't you stay one night in Vasco or Bogmalo and then you can move on? Alternatively, you can book in advance at a hotel in Panaji and ask them to send a taxi to pick you up. The only problem is you will pay a little more for this. My advice would be to stay in Hotel Lapaz in Vasco. They offer free pick up from the airport and the room rates are very reasonable. You should be able to get a room for about Rs 1800.

Oh please, females arrive late all the time in Goa/India, and attacks are usually by people females have gotten to know (though not always)


You come outside, you get in a taxi you leave for your hotel, the same as hundreds do every year in Goa. Attacks in Goa remain a rare occurrence whereas there are thousands of single females walking beaches and roads late at night without a hint of trouble.
The fact of the matter is she has to go somewhere she can't just stay in the airport until the next day.
If getting into a taxi is so dangerous then presumably it doesn't make any difference where your taxi is going. In a prepaid your name will be noted along side the drivers plate number so the chances of any mischief are minimal.

Goancanucks options are good one too but honestly there is no inherent criminal danger in taking a taxi to Panjim.
