Question April 12 - 30 | Budget | Itinerary help please

Hi guys,

I will be arriving in Goa on the 12th April 2012 via train from Mumbai.

As I have over 2 weeks to spend in Goa I would like to see parts of north and south. I understand south Goa is much quieter than the north (or will both be quiet in April?).

I would like to spend a few days seeing the old parts of Goa and a nice quiet beach but the majority of my stay I would like to chill with a beer with other young travelers if possible and chill with the hippies.

I would like the accommodation to be cheap, possibly the beach huts, close to the beaches anyway.

What do you recommend? All advice is appreciated, thank you.

April is lean time in Goa. Accomodation will be cheaper and plenty. There are lots of posts on Goa beaches, read and select one and turn up. Look around for suitable accomodation, compare prices, haggle and settle. Goa tourism runs conducted bus tours which you can avail to visit old Goa.

April is a lean time in Goa for a good reason, it is very hot and humid. Although at this time it is very popular with Indian tourists, especially families, foreigners are thin on the ground whether young or old. You have missed the hippies by about 30 years, but plenty of poseurs from November to March

Head down to Palolem, you'll still find quite a few people kicking around. Including a few hippies if you're lucky.

But yes pretty hot so think about a AC room if it fits your budget.

Ha thanks guys, I'll be arriving at Madgaon station and have some accommodation near Benaulim sorted for the first 2 days so I'll do the tours then if it's close.

Then I've decided to head down to Palolem and get accommodation when I arrive. Think I'll skip the North beaches, I'd like to settle and just relax for the duration. Not bothered about the hippies so much.

Thanks again!
