Great choice. Not exactly a spectacular hotel but one of my favorites. The rooms are in blocks of about 8,lined along a pedestrian walkway that leads to the beach. The location makes this hotel. You are in the centre of everything.
Food is OK - good varied menu of Indian, Chinese and European. You are probably on half/full board which is its problem for me. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Baga/Calangute it is a shame to tie yourself to hotel. Anyway food is so cheap it is nor problem to give up your voucher and explore. Rooms are pretty good for this area. Basic but with plenty of space with Bedroom/shower room, sitting room and balcony (Though some of these are a bit small). From experience I wouldn't bother with a/c, the fans are perfectly adequate. When you go onto beach head for the Big Banana beach shack - the best shack in the north. Food to die for and friendly staff. Say hello to Francis and his boys. Enjoy it - you've hit bthe jackpot. Bill |

Hi Bill
We had already phoned to book an a/c room but they had not yet recieved the booking from Global, After your reply we won't bother. We had no intention of eating at the hotel much we always like to try the local places and we will definatly try the Big Banana and tell Francis you recommended them, will they know which Bill you are. Thanks for your info and we intend to have a great time. Be Happy Peter |

Big Banana
I am new to this and I think I messed up the method of replying to you.Just
in case I'll do it again. When you see Francis he will know us as Maggie and Bill. I am returning in April for 10 weeks (see my thread about buying in Goa) and I'll be having a drink or 2 with Francis and the boys. This will be my first time so late in the season so it will be interesting to see the difference in the weather/surroundings and number of people. ![]() |

Very reassuring review of the hotel Bill. My wife and I are going there the beginning of April for a fortnight. Cannot wait now, especially to try all those restaurants.
Éva and I would like to sample some of the culture/history. Is there any special tours or places of interest near by? Maybe we will see Peter there? Thanks again |

Places to visit
Blimey..I didn't realise it was so popular in April. Anyway there is lots to do.
Avoid tours offered by the reps..they are a bit of a rip off when you can hire your own taxi/driver for a day for about 900rs (£10/11) and he will take you wherever you want to go . If you want local then Old Goa will give you all the Portugese churches and dead saints that you want and you combine with a trip to a spice farm which sounds boring but is very good. go to the one with the elephants (just past Ponda). You'll probably do a couple of temples on the way. For about 600rs you will get the tour and lunch.Anjuna flea market each week is just a short taxi ride away as is the Saturday night market at Arpora.Go early morning for Anjuna and very late for Arpora (great food and live music). Crikey I sound like a tour guide. Enjoy it, loads to do and you will find everyone you meet will have good ideas for you. ![]() |
