Any Goa experts out there??

Hi,
I've always wanted to buy a retirement place in Goa, but with prices skyrocketting -- and largely because of the scams I have resisted so far. During my last visit I met a lot of developers but one look at the places made me want to run a mile.

Now finally -- my dream could come true. My cousin is in the Indian army and says the army housing assocaition is building flats and houses in goa. He could buy one and transfer it to me. Which would be great. However he was not very clear about the area. He said the army newsletter just described it as being in PANAJI, 6 KMS FROM THE MAIN BUS STOP ON THE OLD BYE PASS ROAD.

Does any one know more about this location-- how is it -- how far is the beach from it. Please give your expert comments asap. I have to send money to my cousin if I comit to it now.
Many thanks.

apparently it is an army welfare housing scheme -- they help their own soldiers to buy a place and it runs almost all across the country.

Bambolim

This area is not the prettiest of places, high up on plateau with not much greenery. If the naval accomodation is anything to go by then I would not really rush to buy government property without seeing it first. However, if you just want a base and the price is very very cheap then fine but proceed with caution.
