Anjuna?

I have just had an email with an offer of long term stay at a guest house in Anjuna, I have no knowledge of Anjuna except it was the hippy home in the 60s.

Anyone been there recently? Any input would be appreciated. Is it still V and peace brother? Do I need to take my guitar and flower power shirts?

Lez

Oh yes it is R6000/month is that good or what?

To fit in in Anjuna you should:

-get numerous body piercings

-wear your hair in dreds

-dress in artfully slashed, draped and tied bits of green undershirt material with lashings of long silk scarves tied on anywhere and bangles and stone beads on all extremities.

-rent a large noisy bike with side mirrors that stick way, way out to the side, so that when you go wallowing about on the sandy trails you can brush pedestrians out of the way.

-other options, come in a tour bus with forty friends and close family members, rush down to the water side, take pictures with any foreigners who happen to be hanging about, dabble your feet in the water, eat the lunch your brought on the bus out of wax paper packages, get back on the bus and rush off to the next stop on the tour.

-option two, arrive simultaneously with flocks of other sun burned charter tourists in shorts and funny sun hats to attend the Wednesday market. Bring lots of money.

-warning, looks can be decieving, all the motorcycle taxi guys look like crack dealers but the only people who actually offered to sell me dope were also selling carpets.

6000 rs is par for the course

Just don't try to catch the bus after 6pm, it's a long walk to anywhere!

ANJUNA !
A beautiful fishing village that is located in North Goa with beautiful hilltops overlooking the Arabian sea and swaying palm trees. It was in this village where the Hippies first arrived in the late 1950s to mid-1960s to gain peace of mind and drown in its beauty.

The Flea market which is held every wedneday, was started by the Hippies who used to sell their belongings for money. Now the market is dominated by people from other states like the Kashmiris, Lamanis, Tibetians though you will manage to find some forigeners still having their shops.

It is the hippies who started these rave beach parties wherein they would sing and dance through out the night under the vast blue sky lit only by the moonlight.

Nah man that was the "new Age Travellers" Hippies were happy with a guitar, a tabla, a harp and some spliff to see them through the night!!

Of course the promise of Mick or Hawkwind turning up for a gig in the near future kept the hopes alive!!
