Anjuna - New Year's -- guest houses?

hi -
headed to Goa for new year's --- should be arriving on Dec. 26. Any suggestions on guest houses close to the beach, etc? Also, should i try to book in advance or wait until i'm there -- i've heard mixed opinions on this.
Also - i'm a solo female traveler -- should have no troubles in Goa, right?

thanks for any suggestions!!

you should book in advance! plus how many days are u there for? so depending on that and depending on the places u wanna visit, things u wanna do etc etc you can book hotels accordingly BUT ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS BOOK IN ADVANCE when coming to Goa in December!

hi - thanks!
Well - i arrive Dec. 26 --but should probably book for 7 or so nights through New years just to be sure i have a place...
I'll only be there for about 9 days so can't cover as much ground as i would like to! Im definitely interested in any kind of beach party i can find for New Year's, etc. Also - im a solo female traveler...so, hoping i won't have too much trouble...

any suggestions on guest houses or beach huts, etc. would want a western toilet/bathroom...

oo your dates are nearly identical to mine! I will be there from 28th - 3rd Jan!

For guesthouses, hotels, shacks etc you can check one of the many websites such as hostels.com, makemytrip.com, yatra.com etc and book rooms accordingly. Most rooms would have western toilet, no need to worry on that front!
One suggestion is that if you wanna go backpacking, you can always rent a place in a city like panaji as the rates there would be really low compared to rates at guesthouses near the beaches.

For parties it would depend where you stay. North Goa will have countless parties and for beach parties you can head towards Anjuna (Again in North Goa). Though except for new years, it will be hard to find any kind of beach parties except for those in clubs.

hope this helps a bit! lemme know if you need any help

keep trying u will eventually find something!! I have mentioned contact details of a couple of places below. I will be staying in Calangute which perplexes me cause I am usually loitering around Anjuna..sigh!
Anyways things to do, since Goa isn't going anywhere and since club parties I can attend even in Mumbai I don't think I would be doing much of partying there. The definitive plan is to do a lot of photography! There are beautiful beaches and forts in Goa for the same! And lots of beautiful people too!
The tentative plan is to chk out beach shacks, pubs, beach parties if any, meet new people (I just cant get over meeting new people, just yet! lol) and so on and so forth. lets see what else I can do there! .

Here are a couple of nos I Have. You can chk here.

Baga - Martins guest house
0832 - 2277306. (got this from another thread. A friend has stayed here before. really good place and close to a lot of action aka parties/shopping etc.).

Calangute - Pedro's Guest House
0832 - 6513629 (This is where I will be staying. You can ask here and tell my name, Nishant. If not his place he may help finding a place nearby).

Try Bean Me Up

The Soya Station also has a small guesthouse connected. Some rooms with share bath, some private - western facilities. We stayed there last new years - simple, clean, great restaurant, cheap, close to beach Vagator/Anjuna. I don't think they ahve a website per se - so perhaps not full yet as a little harder to track them done. Here's the email:

beanmeup@usa.net

Good luck - have a great trip!

This is just the kind of thread I was looking for. I'll be in Goa 27th Dec- 4th Jan.

I'm a lone traveller as well, looking for cheap places in or around Anjuna- which is quite hard! I thought looking 2 months in advance would be enough..

Anyway will try out those links! I think staying 5 miles away might be a bit annoying though? Especially when you decide you want to go home after a long night..

lol - yeah, im having difficulty. Im in another thread where someone told me i'd have no trouble finding something when i got there...but he's the only one saying that!! lol

yeah - i'm not in love with the idea of staying five miles away -- esp after a long night. (and esp since im a solo female traveler...)

eek -- im sure we'll find something!!

I don't agree with 5 miles, I have walked the way from Baga to Anjuna a couple of times and suppose it takes an hour.
