Anjuna Flea Market in Goa to close in short term

Just got a taxi from Anjuna - taxi driver very upset as he has just found out the Wednesday flea market to be shut down until mid-Jan as Govt. taking terror threat as per Israel intelligence very seriously. Will have huge impact on locals - as this driver said, 1/2 of his weeks salary is made on flea market day...

Merry Xmas.

It might be temporary. i doubt if the govt. closes it permanently. It's on the biggest attraction.

I didnt realise how serious this threat was
I have read a couple of things about it but I thought that there would be a few extra cops around the place
Hope things get better soon

With all the hype that the market generates, it is sure to be opened soon enough. No way they will close down a major tourist destination.

But how serious is this threat? Is there not as many tourists there? how sad this is - I feel sorry for all the market people, thats how they make their living.

Very good news. (maybe not for the locals)

It's good to see the authorities taking the threat seriously.

Terrorists love crowded markets, had they targeted the market we'd all be saying "why did they ignore the warnings".

Logically this will move from Goa to Malana. There, no one will notice the death of a few Israelis as they would be assumed to be in the drug trade. One more 'trade' gone bad and he must have been killed would be the thinking.

The only flaw in the above story, is that the killers wont get any publicity like in a goa attack. Which is the point of these killers.

But then again, I won't be surprised by a few false flag operations carried out to implicate Pakistan, Saudi, or Palestinians; done by the CIA, or even the Indian Gov. itself.

In the larger scheme of things, a few dead people don't matter. Coventry learnt that during WW2.

Very strange when only the other day the Chief Minister said there was no threat.
