It's good to see photos of how it was, it sort of confirms how I though it would have been, a pity really.

In some photos the people are wannabe Sadhus, in others there naked on the beach, it makes me wonder what they (hippies) were trying to change in the world.

The poem....

All in all, the kind of people I try to avoid in India.

SOS: Missing Person...

Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

cool pics. I am actually fascinated by the hippy movement. I wish I lived my 20s in the 70s...
I love the hippies and I wish I was one too...

Actually allot ot looks pretty simmilar to the early 90s, exept the people look different, different vibe, less trouble maybe... well besides the drumset instead of the speakers .

Those are totally cool...

Reminds me when I was young and our family used to go every summer to Rocky Mountains in Alberta...There were hippies everywhere, hitch hiking smoking pot, gathering around a circle, etc...

It would have been totally awesome to visit Goa in those days!! I'll have to show my husband..He'll be able to relate.

Fuck I wish I was born then, old/young enough to live the dream, But I had a fair share of goa before what it is today so I guess I should not be complaining about that, and Im not, but the 70´s Man!!! To be young but old enough in the summer of LOVE. that my friends would have been Groooovey

Sometimes I think there Is a place Elswhere right now beeing rediscovered, like that. Lets say some beach in Nam or South America etc that is all fresh and new and where people are Naked. You never know...

Nice pics! The ones at hand are late 70's till late 80's though so the Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys had already come & gone.

Maybe my old idea to start a Calcuttan band called Shiva's Lingam was not so bad after all...

If that is a reflection on the hippies sometimes being totally oblivious to the real power structures around them in their pursuit of love + happiness, esp. once they find themselves in an exotic place, then... maybe yes.
