No clue about Mumbai, however in Delhi it should be Rs.180 or less than that(not more for sure), i.e. 7 Year old, 750ml bottle.

In neighboring Haryana, they do not have MRP on bottles, so it sells for Rs.150 (in more semi-urban setting) to Rs.250 (Super Chic wine shops of Gurgaon)..

Thanks Shashank.

I knew the price had gone up in Goa in recent years, and it has clearly gone down a lot in other parts of India.

It seems all these guys going the legal route and buying a liquor permit to transport two bottles for rs50 are hardly saving anything then.

Some years ago, the savings were considerable.

What was it before in Goa then Johnny? 90Rupees is the cheapest I can remember that was around 10 years ago.

Nice tipple but I'm forced to say popular because it's the best of a bad bunch (IMFL)and a pretty cheap even by Indian standards

I don't think price of alcohol has ever gone down, anywhere in India.

I would never carry normal IMFL from Goa, the bottles I carry are Fenni and port wines, and for them permit is worth it.

But you know what, being the kind of society we are and from the background we come from, its out mindset to save every Paisa, so it might not be significant, however it gives a 'high', a satisfaction to have saved..

Dude I was on a Enfield before you were a gleam in your father's eye. My uncle had one when I was a kid.
Old Monk is a pretty good rum measured against SOME others too.

You know Shashank I seem to remember that Feni isn't covered by the Alcohol permit as it's designated as country liquor and only licensed for Goa. Can't remember where I read that, maybe someone knows for sure. In which case you're getting another one over the tobacco and Liquer guys, YES!

Oh I see it's not licensed to sell outside of Goa.......

Its not licenced to "sell" outside Goa, that doesnt mean you cannot carry it to your home, no bootlegging involved......

rs50 something, 15 plus years ago, and rs200 plus in Bombay. 600ml beer was rs20-25 in Goa and about rs100 in the big city. The Bombay prices could have been partly due to being a paklo gora, but I remember all foreigners taking as much booze with them as possible.

Andy, if you are crossing the border to Maharashtra or Karnataka you are required to by a permit to carry hard liquor (and beer if the border guy is after a bribe). It has been discussed on here before regarding road and rail. With a flight you would probably be ok if its in your main baggage, but it would be confiscated if in hand-baggage, permit or not.
