Agonda Guest House Burnt Down?
Hi,
I like to start a guest house in Agonda. But at the moment I'm doing a research. How to start, to find a location, what kind of documents are required... But a story who is been told is making me really afraid. It is the story of two girls who build a beach resort on the south end of Agonda. This must be a few years ago.. The neighbours (Dunhill,Fatima guest house and Sunset restaurant) had an secret defence attack on them. They where sending all the known government authority's to them.. mmmm not easy to handle. And normal in one way! But just before they would open. The People from the sunset restaurant burned they place out. I'm sure this is not a made up story. Because not only the villagers are telling it. I met some travellers who saw the huts burning... Does someone else knows this story and does someone knows what happened with the two girls??? And Are there more story's like this... Greetings Sil |

Girls? what girls?
Really needs a better thread title: I thought it was going to be another spam porn posting! The girls. 500,000,000+ women in India: 'the girls' doesn't narrow it down much. I'm changing the thread name to Agonda Guest House Burnt Down? and shifting it to the Goa forum. I've also deleted the second thread with the same content. You are there at the moment? Perhaps you will have better information than can be found here.

I did hear, a few years back, that the locals in agonda prevented the building of a hotel there. They did this with death threats, not sure the exact details but that was the general jist of what I heard.

Hi
Guys I am thinking of heading to Lahore and was wondering if anyofu guys have gone via attari, punjab? Still looking into it, not quite sure yet. My grandmother is originally from Lahore and was thinking about checking it. I'm currently in Delhi for 1 year and thinking about having a week from 23rd december in Lahore. Was wondering if anyone knew of any hassles/problems getting over the border and are there easily available buses/autos etc to get you over to Lahore? Maybe on the wrong site here! Do you know of a Pakistan Travel forum? any help guys would be much appreciated, pretty confused at the mo??? |

i think you must have pressed the wrong button! You're a long way away from a guest house in Goa! Suggest you start a new thread and try again ![]() |

Silverkey,
If you plan to set up a guest house -- I would advise you stay at Agonda for a bit and set up some sort of relationship with your competitors. I dont think its wise to set up an establishment with out cordial relations with your neigbhours. Stay with them-- discuss your ides and see how they respond -- before diving of the deep end and investing your live savings. All the best. |

i believe there was a bit of graffiti daubed on the site of the proposed new hotel with the words: 'we will kill your tourists'...or words to that effect. Seemed to work ![]() |

I passed through Arambol nearly three years ago and was speaking with a local guest house owner, she told me a story about a newly built property quite near to her place. The story was about how a foriegner had got involved with a couple of locals in a venture and they had built this property, I cant remember if it was a guest house or a private residence, but the cost of the whole thing was 70 Lakh, which was paid by the foreigner...anyway, there was some issue to do with ownership or something and the foriegn guy mysteriously ended up dead. no one knew anything or saw anything type scenario. Dont know if anyone else knows anything about that story.

In my experience there's an equation that applies to most businesses being set up by foreigners in Goa. foreigner + business = enemies
This has varying degrees of course but if you set up a business as a foreigner in Goa you ARE going to make enemies. That's just the way the cookie crumbles. The hotel in Agonda that was closed down (years and years ago) was due to local pressure to get the building stopped, not death threats!!! The people who wanted to build it were an out of state set up and the people agitated for a halt in building and won!! |
