acne cream

Hi

Does anyone know the name of a very good acne cream that's sold in Goa. I have seen it on a Goa Forum but don't think it was this one & can I hell as like find it. Apparently it's fantastic & everyone buys it I think it began with a D but I'm probably wrong.

Just for the record, I don't have acne (too old) but my darling daughter does complain about spots (usualy after she's been on the ale & takeaways) god bless her.

Thanks
LM

Hi ,
If you take my advice never use any cream. It only clogs the pours .Best thing to do is to ask your daughter to clean her face with some good cleansing lotion frequently and specially last thing at night before going to bed.
Drink plenty of water,7to8 glasses a day,and avoid greasy food.

I can't recommend a cream but I can suggest an alternative if she can't find anything she likes. Wash face with a mild soap like Dove and fingertips (no cloths or scrubbing of any kind) in lukewarm or cool water - never hot! Afterwards, put a tiny amount of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) to fingertips and gently apply as a moisturizer.

Sounds counterintuitive but it works. I never had acne as a kid but it hit me as an adult. After trying everything under the sun, I used EVOO as a last resort, and it cleared up my skin beautifully! I still use it today. Unless she's allergic there's no reason not to give it a try. Using a quality makeup, like MAC, which I'm pretty sure is available in India, will help a lot, too - cheap cosmetics can really do a number on your skin. Best of luck.

The antibiotic Doxycycline which is used as a malaria prophylaxis is also used to treat acne.

Only recommended for severe cases of acne.

might be ........never used ..........

i'd never go for self-treatment for acne other than herbal/ayurvadic treatment.......all the allopathic/chemical drugs for acne may cause serious problems if used improperly or without supervision......

Neem is supposedly very good for skin and hair but I was taking it at the same time as I was taking doxycycline so it's hard to tell if it really had any effect.
I don't have acne but my skin looked amazing when I was taking doxy - unless it's a very severe case it's probably not worth taking antibiotics for (however if she takes them anyway they're much cheaper in India!)

I looked around at a lot of beauty type shops when in India and didn't spot any unusual creams - mostly seemed to be western brands or ayurvedic type stuff, but these days the ayurvedic stuff is usually available at home anyway.

I've heard tumeric's good for drying out spots but then she'd have a yellow face - not sure which is worse

Smile re acne cream

When I was in college, we used panoxil 5 or panoxil 10... Really does do away with zits. Amazing stuff. Its by prescription but may not be in India.

I too, had amazing skin while on the Doxy as anti-malarial. I don't think I would take it just for the skin thought, but it was pretty good as far as side-effects go.

Clearsil is good.

Himalaya products has a anti pimple cream, which is also effective. Try that.
