Accommodation in Arambol / Mandrem

As a follow up to my post from a few months ago: To live and write in India: Goa or Kerala

Having decided on Goa, I've recently arrived and am now ready to find my new home for the next few months. I'm looking for a place in the area of Arambol or Mandrem with:

- Attached bathroom

- Balcony preferred, hammock a plus

- Close to the beach (of course)

- Reasonably safe and secure

- Rent around Rs. 150-250 per night (4500-7500 per month)

A friend who stayed in Arambol last year told me some villagers rent out rooms with a small kitchen and balcony. Is it too late in the season to find something like this?

Any input is appreciated, and if you're in the area and help find me my spot, I'll buy you dinner.

Actually this is the perfect time to find a place because the busy part of the season is over. Talk to the various guesthouses and they should be to work out something.

Thanks GoanCanuck, that's great to hear. After spending the day walking the beaches of Calangute, I'm very ready to get out of here to a place with people more my age and vibe. If anyone knows of any guest houses in Arambol that have rooms open as of Thursday, do let me know. For now I just want to get there and then I can begin a more serious search for something long-term.
