5* resort in South Goa on beach, April 09 ???
Can anyone suggest a beachside resort South of Goa?
Don't want night life - just somewhere to relax hopefully by a pool if the weather is good. So far I've look at the Taj Exotica (in Benaulim) and The Leela Goa (in Cavelossim). Is there anywhere else I should consider? Not concerned about cost. Thanks in advance |

Last year I was at Intercontinental at Rag Bagh beach - which was really good. It is close to the famous Palolem beach also. Taj is a good property as well.

Taj Exotica is very very good. Heard that Leela is very good also.
I liked club Mahindra also although it was quite crowded. Cheers ! |

And the Leela is at Mobor. I remember reading in the paper in Goa when I was there in 2003 that Ron Wood, the guitarist for the Rolling Stones was staying there after the Stones played in India. |

Dying to be able to use the phrase: "Not concerned about cost" and mean it!
I've heard (but only heard, since I've always been concerned about cost!) that the Intercontinental is nice. One is pretty close to Patnem and Galgibag beach from the Intercontinental -- both of these are less crowded than Palolem. The drawback to the area is that the only "big town", Chawdi/Cancona, isn't all that thrilling. But if the pool is as far as you're going to go, that, of course, does not matter. |

Intercontinental is quite far off and its in the border of Goa and very near to Karwar (Karnataka). Its almost 2-3 hrs drive If I am not mistaken from Intercontinental to main Goa. But, the beach is really beautiful there.

The Intercontinental borders Patnem beach. It's a short ride or a sort of long walk to Palolem. It's not by the border with Karnataka. It's at least an hour ride from the border if I remember correctly(though I never looked at my watch). And Chaudi is not a bad town, but it isn't thrilling either. The Udipi Restaurant is a popular and good vegetarian thali restaurant in Chaudi. It's always full of locals and they have the best lassi's I've had in India.
And if I remember right, Sunday is market day in Chaudi, where the streets are lined with people selling fruits and veggies and a few other items. |
