Yes Canada Paul - I think he's in Goa now continuing his search. I'm sure your information will be of great interest and use to him when he does touch base with this thread eventually.
BTW you might(if you haven't already) find the following thread on how today's India has changed from the 'ol hippie days in the 60's - click here. ![]()

Canada Paul - I'm in Goa now, and am writing from hi speed broadband connection in an Anjuna beach bar. Bit too civilised to call it a shack? Times certainly have changed, but it's still lovely here.
I too am waiting with baited breath to hear the latest in the DH saga. Beats Eastenders any day! |

I spoke to Mrs Da Costa at Palacete Rodrigues a little bit in December about this story. She is 85 but her memory is brilliant. She remembered who i was and i only stayed there for 5 days in October 2001. I told her i had seen this story on the internet. She said she had wrote a letter to DH and the bits i remember she said Dale had stayed there for three months. Nelson also at Nelsons bar will be a good source of info. It's a great pub with lots of characters. I am sure success will come of this

I sent DH an email and gave him Paiso's last name. I wouldn't broadcast his full name (or anybody else's for that matter) in a public forum. I think that if DH has any chance of finding his father, the Nelson's Bar/Paiso lead is his best bet. I think that if his quest turns out successful, it will not be because Goa was a nice, tight community back then and everyone knew everyone else. It will be because his father is Dale, and Dale was a very well known character. He was a formidable presence, one of those people that can draw the attention when he wants to. Dale is real "type A", "alpha" kind of guy. That's why a lot of people disliked and resented him. But he is also a loyal friend and he was generous to a fault. Many people will remember Dale and someone is bound to know where to look for him.
Oh, and Daydream Believer - I'm flabberghasted (pls excuse the spelling) I would never have dreamed that you could get a Broadband Connection!!! at a Beachfront bar in Anjuna! That just really blows my mind for some reason. I don't think that it's a bad thing at all. In fact I think it's fantastic. It's just so unexpected. BTW, I suppose it too much to expect that Anjuna might still be a nude beach? I'm thinking "No way". That's really too bad. It sure was fun when we would all get naked and frolic in the waves and then lounge around on the sand all day.

Not many full moon parties happen now in goa I'm afraid. The police have clamped right down and there is a ban on music after 10pm!

A ban on music after 10pm...no, I didn't know that. Even on the full moon, in January. That's just really......really...sad. I understand that times have changed, and if it is not the mad party scene that it used to be, that's life. But to go to the opposite extreme...there is something, almost......sacreligious....ab out a ban on music of all things, in Goa.
I don't think you'll be seeing very many more posts from Canada Paul |

Eh, I'm not sure about the legalities, but I can assure you Paul, that you can still find music after 10pm in Goa, no problem. There are still parties held every now and again (at least there was 2 years ago), and even without parties, you can still find good jam sessions happening in various places (Arambol is a good spot for this kind of thing).
So chin up, and keep posting!

This is our 3rd time and we've seen the dolphins, Panjim and the churchs in old goa, Also the markets and mapsa, just wondered if there was any real treasures out there you could help us with? Also how do you tell the difference between cashmere and viscose in the patterned pashminas(both very soft)? |

Canada Paul, I'm sorry to say the bikinis stay on in Anjuna these days. Me, I prefer to swim free, but it all depends on respect for the locals, and also not causing any problems (for me) with the Mumbai boys who come to Goa to ogle the ladies on the beach. Not very shanti when you've got 10 blokes standing round watching you sunbathe.
And yes, broadband is everywhere here now. It's currently 1am and I'm 10 feet away from the gutter in Chapora, and the internet is working just fine. But back to DH - any news? |

A big thanx to Les... I have emailed Les personally to apply for help in finding any of these people he has mentioned. I have had individual emails from various of people mentioning the same people as Les has. It could be that Kenny Potter still has contact with Dale. He is believed to be living in the Netherlands somewhere and I am interested in tracking him down. If anyone knows how to get a netherlands directory or knows how to contact any of these ol Goa Hippys please private msg me...thanx and keep watching. DH |
