general stuff and Mangalore

just found this site, which is pretty good timing considering that myself and the good lady are just about to buy our tickets for our year out....

we will be leaving sunny London in March and spending about 6weeks in India.

Its all abit daunting planning an itinerary.... would you recommend even bothering with one or just working on reccomendations once we are there?

Also any info (good or bad) on Mangalore would be much appreciated? My Old Man was born there and i am hoping to unearth some long lost rellies.

Hi Matt, welcome!

While I wouldn't worry too much about an itinerary yet, over the months ahead you can watch out for interesting places close enough to Mangalore that you can comfortably see in a 6 week trip. Lots of interesting places in Karnataka (like Hampi, Coorg region, Jog Falls), beaches in near-by Goa, and the attractions in Kerala like the backwater trips, outstanding National Parks, and lots more, depending upon your interests.

One nice feature of this board is that areas of interest are spread out in sections making browsing easier and ensuring that questions and replies don't disappear in a day or two -- I think it is already a pretty good resource and it is improving steadily as new members join and add their experience and queries.

I'm sure the anticipation and planning for your trip will make a winter in England at least a bit more bearable!
