Tripcrafters?

In the last hour or so a really intrusive advert for Tripcrafters has started appearing where the "Similar threads" used to appear on the right hand side of the screen. Is this with IM approval? If so - is it compulsory?
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

I haven't seen that. I wonder how many people are getting that.

Edit - It just now popped up for me for the first time. Wow, that is annoying.

I got it earlier as well, really annoying...
& doesn't even work properly as the iframe is way too small for it.

Yes, that is a new ad. It should be appearing on the side, no? It shouldnt be taking any space in the thread itself.
It's always darkest before it goes completely black.

nadreg, this may sound strange, but when the ad is there (and it isn't always there for me), the font changes in the posts of the thread. The font becomes a lot smaller.

That's happening for me as well.

It's not in the thread but it is totally dominating the panel to the right of the thread.

The smaller font seems to be a bug. I will fix that.

Another reason to change the "Similar Threads" to the bottom of the screen.

The small font problem seems to be fixed and the layout on the right hand side seems to be more sensible.

I do hope that this Trip Crafters thing isn't going to make IM's Train elves redundant.

In case anybody was wondering this is what you get when you fill in the Tripcrafters form.

Quote:
What Happens Next
1. Email and Phone Verification
We have sent you an email with a verification link. Simply click on the link to activate your account - you will not get responses from our agents unless you verify your email.
Our team will also call you to confirm your travel requirements - it will only be a 2-3 minute call and will help us connect you with the best travel companies for your trip.
If you don't see an email from us in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folder. Be sure to mark the email NOT SPAM and add mail@tripcrafters.com to your contacts or 'safe' list.
2. Travel Agent Match
Over the next few of days, you will be contacted by up to three travel agents who will provide you customized trip plans and quotes to choose from.
3. Happy Travels!
After communicating with each agent, YOU choose the plan you like and make bookings with that agent. And that's it - Happy Travels!
Sounds like to me.

Nadreg - sorry if this causes you problems. I realise that the bills have to be paid but this reads like forum endorsement of a website run by hustlers.

Don't know if this will help....

I never have that right hand side panel showing, I turned it off.

However, the font size in the threads keeps changing from normal to small, I can re-load the page and the font size may go back to normal, not always though.

Ah, so that explains it. I was just having some %^$ with that, thinking it was at my end.

I've blocked away this right-column thing long ago and see no immediate way to get it back, and besides I block most ads here. So little to comment. What Dave reports just now about that gang of course doesn't sound all that cool.

Indeed, and where they always were, and still are. It also causes confusion btw: You see a lot of advice these days going "See threads at right-hand side of screen." I imagine people who have blocked that away will be going like, Huh?

(I do suppose one good counter-argument would be none not in the know will be likely to find them at bottom. I mostly forget to look at them myself or so to direct others to there, even though they may often hold the possible answer to a given question.)

The font issue should be fixed by now. Are you still having issues?

This is a relationship I'm exploring with a prospective travel partner. They're new, but they are well regarded, so I'm giving it a shot. This was the quickest way to get some feedback about what level of integration and type of creative will work. More tweaking will come, most assuredly.

I don't think it's going to make the IMs elves redundant at all! The offering is very different.

Almost sounds like they're doing you a favor, then the hard sell phone calls.

I followed a link a while back for a 'Itinerary expert', I had to fill out a form and then something like 8 expert companies would get back to me via email with their suggested itineraries, so I sent details of a perfectly feasible Itinerary, all doable, but I included some of the problem travel destinations (Hampi & Ajanta) to add to (arrive) Mumbai, Goa & Kerala, 3 weeks total, departing from Kochi.

All very doable, but only 3 replied, and none of the suggested Itineraries included Ajanta or Hampi.

With most of these 'experts', they look for their closest set Itineraries and try to sell you it.
