Copy and Pasting of News Articles
I am really curious - is it other posters objecting or the indian newspapers.
the issue would be worthy of a discussion if there was an indian newspaper objecting to the ephemeral appearance of an article here.
your word is final - good luck to you.

nah.. there are many articles that are cool !
, there are many that inform and many that educate.
Many members post articles and other members will have varied amount of interest in each of them.
Everyone cannot like each and every poster and/or the article they post.
I am sure this is self evident. Thus, I find it difficult to comply with this , if it means that some other member has not liked an article. I have never objected to others articles..I simply carry on.
When the Indian newspapers object , then certainly one would happily comply ,even if it means more work.
One certainly does not want the site to be in trouble.
Cheers !

I`ve been reading this discussion parallel to reading a lot of blogs and when you compare these two different kind of forums it`s hard to feel that this is a necessary conflict. There are a lot of blogs out there which are given to give you pointers to interesting reading by making a short comment and description and providing a link to the actual article.
This gives a win-win-win situation :
*The authors & copyright owners gets recognition in the way they want : to be read in their own forum , with their own by-line
*The posting forum wins in a opening page which is easier to take in
*Last but least : by sharing not only the content of an interesting story but also giving a perspective - even if it is only a couple of words - the readers get access to one more wievpoint.
Myself I`ve enjoyed and gained a lot reading these articles - both for the first content but also for the comments they have generated. I think we would have more interesting discussions with more comments and context from the beginning.

never mind the fact that if you just put in a short description and add a link then the site owner gets a few hits and people visiting their site. I havn't pasted one article since this ban was called and I'm all for it. Although I must say some sites actually want you to take their stuff to help in their own promotion. For example I allow any one who wants to take pictures off of my site www.IFMXF.com as long as they credit it. I guess it all depends on who you're dealing with.
The real question :
1) If no Indian newspaper has objected this is not an issue - NY journalists are not the most knowledgeable about how Indian newspapers would react.
2) If it is indeed crowding out "regular" posts , the release can be rationed
3)If it is some posters objecting to a particular newsitem... noboday will ever agree on all newsitems posted....
Cheers !

The real answer :
Through the kindness of IndiaMike we have this wonderful site and as a result I think he deserves the respect for his guidelines to be followed to the letter.
If I was asked to remove my shoes before entering a house ....... well, I'm sure I wouldn't stand in the door way jumping up and down shouting "but, but, but".
Mike has surely given this matter some consideration, taken the effort to write ............. and the rest should be history ...... should it not??
