A 4" x 6"? Are you measuring it?Does it overflow your window and require lots of scrolling?
I wouldn't worry about feeling like a spoilsport: it's hard for all of us who have an always-up lightning speed connection (
) and a large monitor (
) to realise just how bad it is for others, even though it was only a few years ago we all suffered similar issues. I'm sure we'll get there in the end, especially in Nadreg can get somewhere with having user-definable options for image loading.

That's nice but could you upload a picture of Mirinda Light so I can show my daughter?(For some reason she misses Mirinda and now she's got diabetes she can't have it when we go this year, but she'll be stoked when she hears about Mirinda Light)

Yes, I actually measured it! It's just perfect. No scrolling. What size does it appear on your screen?

Thanks, snonymous! But I'd have liked a view of the ingredients listing. I didn't like it when the mustard oil disappeared from the listing years ago, in favour of some unspecified "vegetable oil"! What do they have now?

No, it is not. But it still is larger than life! Please don't try that with your travel photos!

I did not take a photo of the pickle, that is a commercial picture. As far as I know, they use mustard oil.So now we know that it is not a problem with the size, its just that you personally and perhaps some others, dont like what you construe as "larger than life" pictures in the post.
All I can say is that if ever you or anyone else has a problem with any of my travel or other photos, or posts for that matter, please ask a moderator to remove the offending bits immediately.

There's already a journals area but it's not often used.

The journals are a great place for the travelogues, and a members do use them for such content. Another good place for these would be the articles section, which I plan on opening to all the members so they can write articles as well.

Could you give the Journals better visibility please Nadreg, say higher up on the Forums page or something like that?. Some of them are really quite interesting but unless one makes an effort, you wouldnt even know they were there. And maybe the Articles [if they are going to be open to all] could be integrated with the Journals? Just a suggestion.

There's only been six journal updates in the last 6 months; they're very underused.

Hi folks,
Alas, I wasn't able to find an easy way to allow users to have their own preferences for viewing full size attachments or thumbnails.
One question I have for folks... Why isn't the norm to upload the pics into the Photos section on IndiaMike and then reference the fullsize image in your post? That gets around the thumbnail size and the 15MB limit. Seems to solve all the problems in one go, no?

Because it's difficult. At least, until one understands how.
Maybe this is something you could think about with the new gallery software and integration to the forums? Something that doesn't require the user to understand copying links to image locations?

Shame.

I don't upload to the gallery often but if I'm not mistaken it allows for the upload of quite large images (2Mb?) which are then resized by the uploader software to 800px max which reduces sizes to something between 40Kb and 90Kb.If we used these images in posts then potentially multiple 80/90Kb images would appear on posts. On top of that the 800px limit would make it difficult for some to view.
So we'd be back to the problems already discussed in this thread.
Over and above all this I occasionally put attachments into posts to aid/answer the question for that post only. These aren't photographs I'm particularly proud of so they're not photos I'd want in my photo gallery.
The photo uploading software must use quite a low compression ratio (85%?) when resizing so I'd be interested to see what filesize an image resized to 400px or 600px max would come out at. I think it will come out smaller - in filesize - than the images used in this thread by darklord, synonymous and myself. If so this image size could potentially be used for the attachments, as people like suricate have already indicated that files of circa 40/50Kb at 400px are okay.
