Which subforums don't show on "Latest Discussions"?
Just opened a thread on Chai and Chat which didn't show on the Homepage "Latest Discussions", so I erased its contents (the delete option didn't show either).
Which subforums don't show there?

Masala Chai and Chat does not show there.
The reason that these forums do not show is that they are places for members to talk about things that are not core to the site, or that are controversial in nature. They exist as a convenience to members, not as a reason to join the site. The rationale behind this is our experience that members joining to pile on on an argument generally do not contribute much else. For members who have access to Chai and Chat and Masala Chai and Chat, both show up in New Posts and Latest Threads, and other searches that are available from the site menus. Please do not use the fact that your thread does not show on the front page, which is visible to all, including non-members, as a reason not to take part in those forums Second point: deleting a thread-starting post deletes the thread itself; that is why the option is not available. We have had instances of past members deleting posts in this way, effectively consigning all the other contributions of everyone else who posted on that thread, to the dustbin. We regard this as an act of anti-social vandalism, and it has been made not possible. Similarly there is a time limit on deletion of any thread. Contributions are considered to have been made in good faith, and to have been made for all time. That a thread continues to make sense depends on all its posts. Sometimes a member has a very good reason for thinking twice about having posted something, for instance the disclosure of personal plans or information. In these instances, if the member-deletion period has expired, they should contact a moderator by PM. In one instance that I dealt with, the member was happy that personal references were deleted, whilst leaving the other useful information that she had posted. There are usually ways to leave everybody happy. <crossposted --- probably better just to follow Karuna's link > |
