Nigeria reaches IndiaMike

The Nigerian Scam.

No-one here would be silly enough to fall for it, now would you?

If you get any such thing by PM, do let us know....

After all, it would be most unfair on the Mod's not to let us have the first chance at Uncle What's-his-name's fortune languishing in that bank account....

I received one email offer of $11 million from one Mustafa, I replied "Hey MUGU". May be I should not have replied and deleted the email right away, but couldn't resist the barb.

I do reply to such mails...usually start it like " Thanks for the offer...sure is exciting and I am interested. But currently I am serving a prison sentence for stealing chicken....prison is great...has internet too...but I cannot access my cash"

In relation to the Nigeria scam:

QUOTE
These style of incidents alone cost the UK economy £150m a year - with the average victim losing £31,000 the report said.
UNQUOTE

Most of the victims being 'middle class' Brits. Which gives you some idea as to why it persists despite being SO BLOODY OBVIOUS.

I am sure there are figures somewhere of how many Australians were conned - we just don't release it to protect whatever image we maught have.

Dear Friend, Please don't be surprised to get this mail, I have been guided by God, who has told me that you are a person to be trusted.

My uncle, who has just died, was the owner of a great deal of Retirement Property in Goa ... ... ...

That actually sound pretty genuine. And God thinks highly of me too? Bank details and first born child will be pmed before sundown.

CLARIFICATION
after reading Nick's excerpt from my post it sounds a bit like I am saying that it is no wonder it is successful, they are Brits taking the bait. Whereas, I hope it was clear that i was saying - look at the amount of money - no wonder it persists. Although....

I did think you meant that Brits were the gullible ones falling for it --- just as they are flocking to retire in Goa.

Wrong-end-of-stick error? Rather spoils my little joke --- Oh well, never mind!

But yes... Why would people stop trying something so lucrative?

Speaking of Nigerian investments, you might find this story interesting. A Michigan country treasurer invested a good bit of treasury money into this investment vehicle

I think that these people (the victims) need 24 hour care. How do they survive judging more complex issues in their lives?

This thread make me laugh!

I have had interesting offers from 'followmetonirvana', involving meeting his family.

'Heavenlyhands' has suggested I accompany him on a trip to a massage parlour.

I have won an all expenses paid trip to Goa to view investment property.

'Ladiesman' wants to buy me a beer. Or a coffee. He doesn't mind which.

'Lonelyheart' needs my address so he can send me a floral arrangement. He kindly followed this up with a lovely poem - my eyes are like shining stars in the night sky.

ROFL!!!
