Thanks for bringing this up.

I had read earlier posts telling to check the posts of the person who PMs you and insists on making your trip "safe". When i received several such PMs, i was curious and checked the posts ... The guy was not that intrusive to report him, may be he is/was simply searching for his luck.

It would be useful to make such subjects more visible, especially for new members.

Another reported PM today, a man sending an unsolicited PM to a woman.

A gut feeling tells me the man who sent it may not be aware that we disapprove of this kind of thing, and that he may not have been sending out loads of 'hopeful' PM's.

So, you know who you are, one more complaint and you will be kicked off the site.

what constitutes as unsolicited? i send "unsolicited" pm's to many imer's, male and female, sometimes just to say hello (because their profile looks interesting perhaps), other times because i have a specific question.

I have to concur, one-hundred percent

luckywoman and lotus blossom,

Steven is talking of "REPORTED" PMs. Obviously, these are PMs which are not liked by the recipient and are hence reported to a moderator with the expectation of the moderator taking necessary action. Steven speaks of taking action on such REPORTED PMs("one more complaint and you''ll be kicked off the site") , which I feel is very much in order.

If you feel you can deal with such things without bothering to report, then good for you.

it's deja vu time again as I read the whole list, deja vu of people saying this is right, that isn't right & few ways to put right a loser guy.
Incidentally have worked with the computer forensics people in Pune cyber police & in one case came to know of a guy who committed suicide as somebody did the same thing which just simply drove the guy over the edge. I agree, this doesn't have to do anything with the women/girl but it does leave a bad taste in the mouth & was left wondering if somehow this guy's life could've been saved. He was just one of the millions of students who come to Pune to study.
Sorry! didn't want to upset anybody. On some things like these I just don't know how to find closure & some posts open up some memories.

Thats not what Mike is talking about.

Its about the use of his site for purposes that he does not think appropriate. He built up the site in his own time to become what what it is today.

Moderation is part of what makes this site what it is, I use unmoderated sites and they aint so much fun, but in that case moderation would break its ethos. (free party site)

Should people be allowed to just ride on Indiamikes popularity and harrass its members? I do not get loads of spam on here and I was seriously considering reporting this, in response to a post for hotels in Mumbai.

simply because I come on here to get unbiased information. Still told me to call him even though I'd gone elsewhere. Some random PM from some random indian for some random hotel in some random place in Mumbai. Anyone takes that up is entirely out of their mind.

If I want to get hassled I step outside and walk down Main Bizzar in Paharganj. I don't expect it logging on to IndiaMike.

Seems like its time to bring this thread to everybody's notice again

Ladies (or guys, indeed) please let a mod know if you are pestered or receive unpleasant PMs.

Action will be taken.

uh....gregornot, we're talking about unsolicited messages of, shall we say, "adult" natures, to put it diplomatically.... are you talking about PMs that solicit people for money??

there was an incident today, that's why Nick bumped this thread...

in any event, if someone gets a questionable PM, forward it to a mod...and by the way, you can always use the "ignore" button if there is any harrassment.....
