Train Guru tag

I must confess to being a little uncomfortable with the 'Train Guru' tag that some members have attached to me, I appreciate that they’re maybe just trying to give me a complement but I have 2 main reasons for disliking the tag: -

1, There are so many other members here who offer great train info, and many others who may be put off adding their own, equally valid observations or opinions about train travel.

2, I'm human, and glad to say that I make mistakes, today's great train info is tomorrows 'out of date' train info, the 'Train guru' tag may have some members thinking that my train posts are always correct or accurate, when in reality most are opinion or train info that was correct when I typed it (there have been many changes to timetables this year).

Again, thanks for the complement, but I'd hate for others to be put off replying because 'the train guru' might have a different opinion, one person's ideal train journey can easily be another person’s nightmare journey.

I'm not sure if this thread is a good idea, or is placed in the right forum, but I felt I needed to do the thread.

Steve, this is not a "tag". You ARE the train Guru!

What's that saying?

Some people are born to greatness, some have greatness thrust upon them, some get to understand the Indian Railway system....

There are others here who also deserve the train-guru tag (Beach, VSP and others) but I'm afraid you're not going to shake it off so easily Steven

And everyone with any sense knows that any Guru is still also learning!

Talking Indian Bradshaw

Steve, I stopped buying the Indian Bradshaw coz of you. Even today, its the ONLY source for passenger train timings in all the Railway zones in a single book.

Now if this doesn't entitle you to the tag "train guru", what shall we call you .... "train master"? or "station master"? For that you would have to be an employee of Indian Railways

just take the compliment, Steve. everyone needs to be acknowledged for their efforts, nothing wrong with that.

why is it that we are so uncomfortable accepting praise yet we readily praise others? I just received a "testimonial" for my website that a yoga teacher friend wrote for me and I told her I was overwhelmed when I read it. She said, "why? it's just the truth...."

as it's your truth...a "guru" leads people from the darkness to the light, which you do with your train info!

Yes ,India Guru would be a better tag as he knows a lot more about India than just the Indian Railways.
I would add Cyber Hippie and Machadinha to the list as India gurus too.

Kind of a mouthful indeed isn't it

May be time for a round of applause for all the Mod Gurus (my seniors by any standards) in any case, & all their diligent and loving and often-unseen work. Cheers fellows! Mates! Gang! You there!
