Thanks for reporting posts/threads

Can I say a BIG thank you from all the moderator team to all the members who keep reporting posts/threads containing spam and adverts.

We always act on these reports but rarely get the time to reply to the person who reported the thread.

The site is becoming very busy, and it's very difficult for the moderators to find the threads containing the adds/spam as often they are hidden away in unrelated threads.

It's unlikely we could run a successful site without your continued help.

Thanks.

Well Said, Steven

Can I add also that it is more effective to 'report' a post ---that's clicking on the little red triangle icon bottom-left of the post--- than PMing an individual mod.

The mod team is spread around the world in different time zones, and a reported post is visible to all of us.

Having said that, we have seen some very nasty stuff on the site recently; stuff like porn that we do not want here for minutes, let alone hours. In cases like this a PM to whichever Mod is online at the time is better for getting immediate attention.

If porn is on the site, a PM to any mod who is online, AND reporting the post is OK with us.

Glad to hear it. Always makes me feel like a snitch (not that I do a lot of reporting -- er, I think? )

Anyways, glad to hear you actually get back something from members every now & then. Keep up the good work.

Not a snitch at all.

In the last 4 or 5 days we've had to ban about 30 people who've joined the website just to spam, I dread to think what the site would look like if they could get away with it.

Sadly, they’re now trying bogus ID's to 'recommend' a great place or travel agent or driver......

They’re also replying to posts to advertise, these one's are much harder for the mods to find, so we need your help with these.

We've also had porn sites trying to spam, then a while later we've had eye-care specialists trying the same, I suppose these two companies had a special arrangement, understandable I suppose.

That should give us some insight as to all the stuff even us hardcore visitors miss.

So I've noticed. Often hard to tell though. Let's keep our bullshit detectors on shall we.

I'm simply overawed with the quality of content posted on this site and the tremendous effort put in by the moderators.
Cudos to all you all.

Thanks guys and gals,

I don't post much, but right now I am using the site daily, and what a pleasure! I didn't know what an effort it was to keep it so nice.

The Mods really deserve a lot of appreciation for keeping the site clean and helpful. It really is a credit to them that everything runs smoothly.
