Suggestion for addition to "forum rules" page

Having a note about SMS in the rules would be useful.

Having just seen a post containing virtually all SMS speak, including such piffle as "ne1" which nobody except a fluent English speaker would ever stand a chance of deciphering, I thought it might be helpful to give this new member a link to the forum rules.

However, to my surprise there was nothing on there about SMS language, despite it being a widely enforced rule of the site. Might be worth adding it.

Like the immigration and visa authorities, this one is more of a policy than a rule.

A really serious example can come under the posting nonsense rule. A few 'u' and 'ur' just attract what we hope is accepted as a polite (though firm) request.

Please point us to any major infringements that have gone unnoticed. As ever, there are days when we do not see every new post on the board, and we do rely on reports from members.

You're not the only one... I even had to google "SMS."

I have noticed some sort of game advertised lately where you are supposed to decipher a phrase from the phonetics of some gibberish though I can't remember the name. I suddenly have a strong suspicion that I know what inspired it!

I just noticed in Hyderabad a traffic sign put up by the police with admonitions about u and ur safety - what chance do we mere mortals have against this onslaught...
