Renaming the User Groups

Hi All,

I'm asking for your help in renaming the existing usergroups and making them more intuitively named. The current groups are as follows:
  • Registered: New members to the site. As new members they are not able to send PMs or participate in certain forums.
  • Registered Member: Members with 10 or more posts on the site. The PM function is available to them. However, other restrictions apply.
  • MegaPost Gurus: Members with 50 or more posts. No restrictions on their privileges.
  • Maha Guru Members: Members with 250 posts or more. I had originally created this group to grant them additional rights, but haven't launched this functionality just yet.
  • Forum Leader: Members who help administer the site and keep the community

I'd like the community's help in coming up with group names that capture the spirit of IndiaMike, and the types of people within each group.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Will "Custom User Title" still be an available option?

No takers on this? Have IndiaMikers actually run out of opinions???

I'll throw one out there, and it's based on something I think the Capt had suggested, although I can't find the thread.

- IM a Newbie (or something like that for newbies)
- IM an Expert
- and so on...

We'd need more catchy phrases, though.

well... doesnt the custom user title allow for that? what better way for a user to express himself.

when post count is the only criteria to graduate to a certain title how can the title capture the spirit of people within each group?

IM is branded as a travel forum but in reality its much more than that. Rigid user groups with titles that reflect the users spirit are imo more appropriate in forums with a narrow focus. Things like automotive, IT or something.

Edit:

Dont know if this is possible or not so ill throw it out. Can you set groups conditional on post frequency? this is measured and stated in the profile but can we use this as a criteria? this will help in capturing their spirit... so to speak.

Nice idea. Captain has suggested a really imaginative scheme, but I would settle for something more rudimentary like Rajered mentioned. I am not being very imaginative at the moment, how about undergrad, grad, master, doctor, etc.?

Captains suggestions are as usual - sterling. A lot of new members use the default user titles and it would be good to have something on the lines of what Captain has mentioned.
Captain I like yout User title at the moment - reminds me of a joke going around a while back between Paleface and Nick about members so now you are without one :P

As so many people believe in progressive (hopefully!) reincarnation, how about a new member starting as an ant and ending up as an elephant?

Or, from the department of bad ideas, working your way up to being a Brahmin.

Neither of those were serious suggestions, but I thought they might trigger some better ones...
