Post does not appear on thread summary

Hi guys-yesterday I posted on Crossing the border regarding a response to my original question on Kandy Perahera festival Aug 2005. When I submitted the post I got a page which told me I had not successfully posted. I checked and there's my post, although it does not appear as a response on the thread summary page. I'm stumped? Any ideas. This has happened before. Is it my computer? Thanks for any help.

Weird... your post IS there but your name's not listed as "last poster."

Maybe IndiaMike knows what's happening.

Exactly same thing happened to me, few days back. My reply to a thread "Calcutta Hotel " was not shown in the Forum Index as an last post though the post was shown in the thread. I refreshed the page few times but still my post was not shown in the forum Index page as a last post.

Worse still, I made a long post the other day but by the time I hit the Submit Reply button, I'd been logged out, and the post was lost. Didn't have time to do it again.

Yes Lyndy, same thing's happened a couple of times to me now.For some reason the post hasn't counted or appeared on the front page, but the actual post appears on the thread.I just figured it doesn't matter because the people interested in that thread would read it anyway.

Which thread summary page is this?

If you are following the link on the front page of the site on the left that says 'Latest Threads', the one on the menu on the left, it will not appear if you use the 'refresh' key on your browser. You would have to click on the link again (the latest threads link) for the latest list after a post or after new posts are made.

Is it that link?

Always try the 'Back' button to see if you can get your post back.

I used to get this a lot, now I always press 'Ctrl + A', then 'right click' then 'copy', then even if your PC has lost it's connection, you can always 'paste' the reply to a 'Word' document for later.

Mike, the 'post not appearing as the last post' problem (including whole thread not moving back up to the top) is something I've experienced a few times, I've even tried logging out, then logging in again and going to 'latest threads' and the thread has still not moved up, but when I check the thread my post is there.

I have no idea what is causing it, but because the post is still appearing I didn't think it was worth mentioning.

Probably just a slight bug in the system.

I never get logged out, can be logged in for days if I forget or get a power outage or swap between laptop and desktop, never quite know where I am logged in at times, so I do sleep and I am not a junkie, well.... Must be another thing that Macs are immuned to

I also do the same thing .I copy the post first then paste it ,if required. This probem happens mainly where the post is long.

As allready mentioned , I too tried thr re-logging procedure but without any positve result. And as the post in shown in the thread , dont bother to complain.

Most probably there is a bug somewhere.

Well, just happened to me now, did a post/rant and though it has shown that I posted the post is not there and when I tried to repost it said that it was a duplicate of the previous. Well it obviously knows best, whoever it is.

I've seen the posts not appearing as last post bug occasionally (not on "latest threads" but under "new posts" and under "subscriptions.") Conversely, sometimes a last post will be deleted but it will still be stubbornly counted as last post. I figured it's just a glitch in the system, maybe the server just had a hiccup when that post was made or something.

Well that was really weird, I checked the original post and it was not there although my name was saying there was a post but only two pages, so I reposted, then the original appeared so I deleted the duplicate and went out to Home and rechecked and now there is 3 pages with the post. However in saying that i did a post elsewhere in between and that was as smooth as usual. Spooky.

No big deal for me but others may have concerns when they go to a lot of trouble posting info and it their post is not apparent on the forum summary.

The last post notation is a good function as it allows one to check up very quickly, if any replies have been posted. Anyway, I'm certainly not complaining just thought the glitch should be noted. Thanks Mike & your pals for a great forum!

The same thing happened to me once, and I thought it was because I pressed the "Submit Reply" button twice. I'll try that right now and see if it has the same effect...
