PM permissions change

Hi all,

We've received several complaints about people joining the site with the intent of soliciting commercial activity through PMs. Since their activity is not visible to the general board, they've been able to get away with it. We've also received complaints about people using the PM system to pick-up other users... or should I say attempt to pick-up other users.

So, I am disabling the PM system for all new registrants. Only users who have more than 10 posts in the system and who have been members for more than 15 days will be able to send and receive PMs. I apologize if this creates problems for legitimate users, but the mods and I feel it's necessary to protect the integrity of the site.

Thanks all.

Yes, we did.

What really did it for most of the mods is the dude from Africa who had a bank account full of money. All he needed was someone to transfer the funds to... blah blah blah.

oh no....not here as well! (although I have seen on another forum somewhere - a couple of the members got together, replied to the scam and said they needed verification of his identity - so got the perpetrator to send back a photo of himself in his underware)
eewwwww!

Thumbs up

Good move! If you're really interested in India, you'll be able to wait the 15 days, or you will post on a normal forum.

Thanks once again Nadreg and Mods FOR THE GOOD WORK!!

Hans

Good move! I got a few of these PMs asking if I remembered them or wanted to go partying. They of course did not realise that I am the cousin of Medusa with the mood of Durga.

That's a fair move. Serious users can def. wait for 15 days before using PM facility.

Few... my post count allows it... expect a PM from me!

Hang about... my wife's calling me!

This will lighten the load of quite a few of the site's 'experts' too. An awful lot of people seem to join the site just so that Steven or one of the other train genii can work up their train travel for them!

I confess that I did recieve one after many prayers, vrats, sacrifices and visits to temples of all manner.

Wrong gender though.

Must have been a procedural error in the vrats etc.
